I love the optimism but that would be a tall task

I’m hearing Nuss will play both offense AND defense next year and they’re already planning to give out two Heismans in the same year just for him.

I’m hearing Nuss will be asked to play offense, defense, special teams, and to lead the LSU band on the field at all home games.

If Garrett starts for 2 years at LSU, he'll be LSU's all time leading passer leaving LSU by a decent bit.
Nuss will be playing behind one of the best lines LSU has ever assembled, so he has no excuse not to excel.

I heard he’s practicing throwing touchdowns to himself

He should be good. Ball security is the only red flag I have. BUT the defense should be much better than it was last season so Nuss shouldn’t have to put up insane numbers for us to be relevant.

Top 30 defense and a top 20 offense will have LSU in the mix

I mostly look forward to the threads that go something like “where’s all the Nuss haters now?” Those are gonna be the best.

Oh and by “Nuss hater”, I mean the ones who thought Daniels was the right choice to start at QB at the start of the season

I think most here realized he could sling it when he came in vs Georgia in the SEC champ

Always get nervous when they say a QB can really "sling" it. How many of the truly great ones were "Slingers"? Not Montana, Brady, Manning. They were smart QBs who were accurate throwers. Favre was a slinger and did well. But slingers usually sling into traffic and get intercepted. Hope this makes sense.

You are overthinking this. It means he has a high degree of arm talent. Sometimes those guys tend to come in a bit overconfident, but with decent coaching & football IQ they get used to seeing college defenses + become more efficient.

His dad is an NFL QB coach, I’m not as worried about ball security as others. He forced some things before, but he’s a junior now. Played behind a Heisman winner, getting coached up by Sloan. I’m not concerned about our offense.

I’m still amazed at how we’re just pumping out QBs now like it’s nothing.

If you would’ve told me 10 years ago we would be in this position, I would’ve laughed your arse out the room.

Same. That run of shitty QB play at the end of Les Miles’ tenure here definitely led to an increase in my alcohol consumption

It does. In the bowl game Nuss took what the defense gave him and was patient. But he's also a gunslinger too, always ready to sling it downfield at any opportunity.

Dear Lord, Jayden first on the list and Joe is fourth. Never would have been able to call that one.

What impressed me in the bowl game much more than the stats (which were great) was that Nuss accomplished

1. Didn’t force the ball and a couple of times threw it away.

2. Distribution to a wide array of receivers

3. 90 yard go ahead drive.

4. And outside of the last 3 plays of the game carried the defense on his shoulders and the hands of his targets.

I know it was a depleted 7-5 unranked Wisconsin but those are invaluable amounts of experience for a first year starter.

Nuss ability to command the offense and make guys around him better will make him a first round pick while causing people to forget about 3 loss Daniels.

3 losses which would have been 8-9 losses if not for Daniels. He had to be Superman in every game because LSU had the worst defense in half a century.
