247 summary of practice

Hard to tell if our front 7 is just that good or if we should be concerned about the OL at this point finishing spring ball. Replacing 4/5 starters was going to require some growing pains. Hopefully, this unit is ready to roll going to Clemson. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned based on some of the reports and videos I’ve seen where the OL has struggled.

I've continued to hear that the O line is missing Emory and Will.

Nussmeier then had Barion Brown on a deep post but overthrew him.

Both things are probably true. I expect the DL to be absolutely dominant and the OL to have issues in the first half of the season.

It’s crazy because if you went by rankings, he’s pulling in the most talent we have ever had on the OL. Guys just aren’t getting better under him.

On paper, we have more quality depth on Oline this year. Thats assuming these 2nd year guys aren't duds along with having hopefully one of the highly rated true freshmen available to play. (Emory and Will both playing as true freshman at a high level the same year is an anomaly, I understand). Those young guys will have a lot of growing pains through Spring/Fall practice.

I will say though. It does seem like we have 7-8 interior offensive line guys that can play. The tackle spot will be interesting.

Have LSU ever had a dominant OLine? Will and Emory struggled all last year, sure they didn't give up too many sacks, but hell Bo Jackson couldn't run behind them.

This is the offensive line without Braelen Moore and Josh Thompson.

Don’t think this is breaking news.. losing two 3 year starters at tackle is a big deal. When Chester is your most tenured starting OL under Davis, that can be scary. Hopefully, guard will help him out.

It has to be the blocking scheme Davis is using. Maybe Kelly will make him change it up.

Based on draft projections it’s looking like Emory Jones should have stayed for another season

He did a great job turning the run game around in 2022. I’m just curious why it’s not translating the last 3 years. Scheme? Both blocking and overall play calling?

Offensive line has the most complex play of any position outside of QB. OL's always take a while to gel.

I wouldn't be surprised if they add another tackle.

The entire yr will go as the o line goes.

Some of us told yall that Nuss wasn't going to be amazing this year. Yall say what yall want, but the numbers don't lie, our OL was damn good and replacing 4 guys was going to be difficult no matter the transfers.

Also told yall that WR separation wasn't our problem last year, but yall pointed to the last 2 games and swore Hilton was the difference maker.

Nuss is a short/medium accuracy thrower with deep strength but no touch. Which is perfectly fine and Brees threw for 5k yards with that ability.

But we ain't taking the top off of defenses unless Nuss gets better in a hurry.
