He and Chris Reid have basically identical fielding %.

There wasn’t a single ball hit to 3rd base in Sunday’s game.

I’d like to see Reid at 3B, Beloso at 1B and Gio in the DH spot.

Your DH spot you can platoon between Gio and Dugas. Or even Bianco and Willis.

There is no real reason to suffer with Hughes at 3rd when Reid can play there and Beloso can handle 1st.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mainieri give Dugas or Bianco a shot against FSU's lefty on Saturday (I think they're throwing a lefty Saturday).

Mainieri obviously believed Hughes is better than Reid at third and Reid is better than Beloso at first.

Does the better D offset Hughes’ production at the plate? That’s the question, that and would Dugas or Bianco help v lefties and Gio v righties.

PM will tinker with the lineup. Let’s see what he does.

PM usually doesn’t seem to mind sacrificing offense for defense if the rest of the line up is producing....I mean Derek Helenehi was the starting third basement for the 09 championship team, I I think he barely he 250.

The thing with Hal is that with the mashers in this lineup and the potential of next years lineup we don’t need him to hit .330 with 5 homeruns.

If he can just hit .240ish and do the little things like drawing walks, hitting behind the runners and laying the bunts down then that’s all we need from him with his defense.

I really don’t think that’s asking too much of the kid

Helenehi was 1-23 at the 09 CWS. he went hitless in the 3 games against TX.

Think about what you just said for a minute.

People would be ecstatic if Hughes hit 250. That's about 80 points higher than he's currently hitting.

So who is staying so far if any that have been drafted?

Hess and Toddy 7th round? Are they in play for next year at LSU?

Pretty much everyone that has been drafted so far is expected to sign.

Getting through today was big for the signees.

Last year’s draft Hess turned down $600,000 to come back and improve his draft position this draft. His slot value for his draft position today is $227,700.

This is according to nola.com.

How good is the Millazo kid from Zachary?

Elite defender. Routinely clocks 1.75 pop time. That would be top 5 in the mlb. Bat needs a little work but won’t find much better defensively.

No he doesn't. That's like saying random football recruit consistently runs a 4.2 40.

There is literally no chance Hess comes back.

THAT is what you got from what I posted?

Okay, let me try again: Hess coming back this season cost him almost $400,000 if he’s paid slot value.

Torres had the best pop time of all the national catchers in the showcase events at 1.75.

I don't see any links showing Millazzo matching that, which is not to say it isn't true. But a number like that for a high school catcher is nationally elite.

pretty sure it would be #1 in the MLB by a long shot which tells you it’s not realistic lol

This draft went better than I ever expected. Keeping Hampton, Doughty and Travenski is huge. With the incredible pitching depth and youth of the team..we are set for 2-3 years with championship talent.
