He talked on some podcast about how he "didn't make as much money" as people think and I've got a feeling he's not great with money.
Hopefully he put some in a professionally managed investment account or something.

Well he kept a large contingent around him who wanted to live the same lifestyle he did, without bringing in the income he was.
Worst thing I hear when players make it to the league is that “they want their parents to not have to work anymore”. Thats great and all, but not financially prudent on a rookie deal.

Pretty sure he was released to make room on the 53-man roster for JJ McCarthy who is horrible.
Sadly, Father Time, along with injuries and surgeries, caught up with OBJ.
IMO, Jameis can get the Giants to 9-8 or 8-9 as they won't make the playoffs. I don't think McCarthy can do any better, perhaps worse at 7-10

He made over $50 million in commercials and endorsements also. I know taxes take roughly half, but that’s still $75-80 million.

Luckily for Odell he should be famous enough nationwide to continue making money in some form or fashion. Just needs to be smart about it (and he should be considering he went to Newman)

He probably saw $65m after taxes and agent fees and continued to live lifestyle as if though he was bringing in $20m annually. It was going to catch up.
Any good financial advisor is going to put him on a strict budget, tell him to move to Dallas or Florida, stop using PJs and cut the fat that probably still sponge off of him.
