You are correct.
Fans shite all over players then bitch when a player makes a move in their best interest.
One day he is a "turnover machine" the next he is a "traitor".

Burrow and Daniels were both quitters?

Yes Nuss moving on to play next year would not be to a premier team probably. It would be a building year in hopes that the second year would be a big one. It would be the same here with the chance of getting in the drivers seat of a Ferrari this year if something happens. He will play a lot in my estimation.
Walker Howard we just have to continued developing and see where it goes. There is other top talent out there that I know we could attract when the time comes. We will be bringing in a portal qb that year he would start anyways. It may be a bad thing starting a guy with no experience.

I think it depends on how things look going into the spring. If they are telling Nuss that he will get actual playing time then I'd stay. But if it is looking similar to last year, then it would probably be smart to leave, especially if it looks like Walker will end up passing him up. At the end of the day, he needs playing time in order to make it to the next level.

100% this

No way all 3 are here come Aug

Why would he leave and start over when the job is his after next year?

It’s going to depend on what Nuss’ priorities are. Does he value immediate playing time over everything else, or are winning and situation a factor? What is his relationship to the staff? If he’s close to Denbrock and Sloan and feels like they are helping him develop, that could be a major factor. If he doesn’t have much of a relationship with them, it would make it easier for him to leave. There’s no way for us to know any of that.

Another factor is the advice that Nuss will be getting. With a lot of players, you don’t know who is in their ear. Is it a former coach? A family member who means well, but doesn’t know what they are doing? A hanger-on looking for a quick handout?

With Nuss, we know who he’s getting advice from, and his Dad IS an expert. If he feels like LSU is still the best situation for his kid, that may not be the deciding factor, but it will go a long way. If he believes another situation is better, it certainly won’t help us. But at least he’s an authority who will give his kid informed advice instead of serving some outside agenda.

NFL QBs make a career as backups, but you have to prove yourself and improve in college to get to the NFL. Before the transfer portal, there were college QBs that have sat waiting for their time, but it doesn’t usually happen in college that way anymore.

This is what people don’t realize with Nuss. All he needs is one strong year putting up numbers which he will get to do in 2024 if not sooner. We almost got in the playoffs this year with a bunch of transfers and freshmen. By 2024 we will have a damn good OL and the team should be very talented overall. Nuss gets the keys in 2024 and should get a ton of good coverage which will make him a high pick. It’s a good bet by Nuss to hang around another year imo.

Good thing is nuss’s dad knows a lot about developing QBs and that it doesn’t happen overnight.

I think Walker's dad is pushing the same logic. Don't rush into it.

I don't see the doom and gloom so many do over Nuss as its Howard that is the bigger unknown. He has 2-3 years to wait and he will have new competition coming in behind him every year. Nuss is in a great position to be a starter for 2 years on a top ten team.

It makes the most sense for him to stay but we’ve already seen that he isn’t willing to put the team first in the past. He may not have the patience to wait it out.

That would be my advice as well. See what happens next spring and fall. If Howard doesn't beat out Nuss in the spring of '24, then leave. That still gives him three years of eligibility. Both of these kids have fathers that played at a higher level than anyone who frequents this board. Nuss's dad is professional QB coach. I seriously doubt that there is anything discussed on this or any other message board that Jamie Howard and Doug Nussmeir haven't already thought of.

yep. Or it could never happen and he spends his career on the bench.

Right. Just look at Jayden Daniels.

Keeping JD5 is going to set back LSU QB play for years to come. But BK knows best.

What does this even mean?
Who leaves? Do they suddenly forget how to throw the ball?
Do we stop getting good recruits now?

I'm seriously curious.

Nuss would have to still battle Walker after Jayden is gone. I think with 2 years in the system that Walker beats Nuss out. He looks to have just as special of an arm as Nuss but he’s even more athletic. You got to see Walker is a real running threat in his limited snaps in the bowl game. If the competition is even you go with the guy that has an extra year of eligibility and that’s Walker.

Walker is really small, and he needs a year or two more to catch up.

Nuss >> Walker and it's not that close...

Daniels does not know how to throw after 4 years as a starter. It seems likely that Nuss transfers as there will be no real competition at QB. It is what it is. We will see what happens, but it will probably be Howard starting in 24. 23 if 5 get injured.
