If this surprises you, then you don't know ND fans.
For the first time in over 20 years, Kelly had them as a consistent top 10 team. But because they were not a legitimate top 5 team, the fans weren't happy. With the limitations the administration puts on for admission requirement, they just can't get the players they need to reach the level they were when Holtz was there.

There was a story of the time about 30 years ago when Holtz was told that he wouldn't have some "passes" to get players in. This was a recruiting weekend and he had to inform about half the recruits that he would not be able to offer them. He was there a few more years and left because he saw the handwriting on the wall.

You have no idea if he’s a solid coach or not. He’s literally never been a head coach in CFB.

He was well respected as a DC and recruiter. About 6 years ago LSU fired the winningest coach in its history, replaced him with a DLine coach with a subpar HC record, and 3 years later they had a national championship.

LSU just fired a guy who was a better recruiter than Freeman because he had no clue how to run a program.
Orgeron was possibly the best recruiter in college football. We have no idea if Kelly can recruit on that level.

Truly embarrassed you are so stupid. Les was fired. Kelly VOLUNTARILY left ND as the winningest coach in their history while being ranked No. 5 in the nation. Do you see the difference? No ND fan was calling for him to be fired, esp since they were right on the cusp of the college football playoffs. Most LSU fans were done with Les BEFORE he was fired.
Les Miles should have been fired years before he was.

The season didn’t even start yet. See and that is how you know they are rookies at this recruiting thing. A&M is in the same exact boat. First of all they basing this off of way too early recruiting numbers. Second of all, just because you recruit good players doesn’t mean your coach will do a great job and in fact the numbers say his chances of failure are much much more likely than his chances of success are.

One great recruiting class will get you nothing but trouble. Plus you need to regularly recruit at the positions that matter every year. They haven’t been doing that and still need at least 3 or 4 years of consistency to prove anything was a good move, bad move or stagnant. That’s how you know they are rookies to this thing called recruiting.

Right, the most consistent coach in CFB leaving your school was a great thing. Not just consistent at one school that is tough to land good players at but also every other school he’s been to. I guess some people will just never learn.

What does that have to do with the issue at hand? You compared Les getting fired to Kelly voluntarily leaving. So please explain you logic.

With the current state of college football, the NIL era and a young up and coming African American coach will help them.

Now 2 things have to happen, he has to have results on the field, and if he does, Norte Dame will have to keep him from bigger offers elsewhere and the NFL

If freeman is as bad as Orgeron he’ll be out in 4 years having never won 9 games.

Orgeron is a terrible head coach. This has been proven over 8 seasons. Hence the reason Kelly left ND. He sees what can be accomplished at LSU and knows he’s 10x the coach and manager that Orgeron was.

And what did that get him? It got him a title and fired 2 years later. Being a great recruiter doesn’t win football games. You actually have to manage the program to win consistently.

Again, Kelly is 10x the coach Orgeron could ever hope to be.

ND had 5 losing seasons in 10 years and had only won 10 games twice in the previous 16 years after Lou Hotlz's peak before Kelly took over. Kelly took over when they sucked and were completely irrelevant. He took them to the national championship game and another playoff appearance and he had 5 straight 10+ win seasons in his last 5 years there. He made them a winner and relevant again. Some of their fans think Knute Rockne is coming back. He ain't.

Dude signed the worst LSU class in 15 years in 2018
He got beat down by Bama and Georgia on OOS kids and signed like one OOS DL while he was here

I believe it was best that BK left. I hold no anger and I thank him for his time. But I am excited for the future, as you guys should be also. I really believe it was a win-win for both.

Sometimes change is needed.

Both programs needed it.

ND fans are trying to cope with the fact that any time they get a good coach now… they leave for a better job… hence baseball and football

probably laughing at us since they're destroying us in recruiting

———————-

Cheesy, they’re destroying everyone in recruiting.

I believe LSU had the top rank class around this time last year.

It’s June, the final top 10 will not be what it is today and Notre will likely not have a top 5 class.
