Neither of these kids were priority recruits for us. Sanchez was at one point as a sophomore due to our friendly ties at North Shore but he's been an OSU lock for 2-3 years. Texas couldn't even budge him. He wasn't much of a drama so I can't speak ill of him. His mother's quote could mean a lot of things without context(no way the media would frame a quote to fit a narrative) but at least she at one point interacted with Kelly.
Petitjohn never visited and was never pursued. For a couple of years everyone assumed he was a Longhorn, even Texas, then OSU came to the forefront. However that's not all the story. His father caused an incredible uproar over not receiving entitlement and for a couple of months forced Texas to completely remove him from their board ala D. Moore. He has no credibility. Some people just talk too much and generally have an opinion about things that doesn't concern them. He's one of them. He himself said they didn't give us the time of day so how would he know anything firsthand? He doesn't.

Regardless, big picture, none of this lawsuit bs will matter. During the "Summer of Love" we were cast as a racist university, with a racist program that had it's kids stage a walkout. We were never gonna land a black kid again. How'd that work out? Kelly, in some minds, is partly responsible for the death of a staffer on his watch. Hasnt had any effect on his career or ability to recruit a bit. People just don't care past the initial faux outrage which in general is artificially produced by the media.

This will play out in court unless LSU settles. Hate that the Brooks family felt the need to drag LSU in the mud but it’s ALL about $$$

If Kelly and LSU only visited and checked in merely a couple of times, then you totally fricked up and you deserve the bad pub. You’re just wanting this thing to end…

That said, this has gotten to the point that if Kelly’s comments are correct and Brooks’ are patently false (and Kelly can gather visit logs, phone calls, text messages, affidavits of witnesses showing Kelly and LSU routinely visited and checked in on Brooks), then I’d pursue a defamation suit. You don’t have to take it the distance, but I’d get it out there along with my supporting evidence and take it to the media. Clear your name and the school and then dismiss or settle the suit.

If Brooks’ family is truly lying or grossly overstating that information, then you got to make this a major FAFO moment…just like Jussie Smollett, people can’t keep doing this and gettin away with it.

This is the flavor of the month in a low-event reporting cycle for CFB. It will pass. The legal system will do what it does and come September, everyone will be focused on the season. There's a reason for the timing of the interview happening shortly after the NCG. The attorney is trying to pressure LSU and OLOL into settling. Personally, I hope they don't. I hope they push this thing out all the way so the whole truth comes out. LSU and Kelly just need to focus on having success on the field next year.
