We will be fine. It will be funny when we go undefeated when we meet Bama. If we beat Bama, which could happen, then we back in it. Even if we lose that one and beat everyone else we should be in a good spot at the end. Usc is a good team. We should have won but we will get better and better on both sides of the ball.

We won sec titles

We won 2 in 10 years. And that was before there was an SEC title game.

Objectively, LSU had a 63% regular season win percentage in the 80s. LSU has been at 75% in the last two seasons, 67% for the last 3 (NIL era). It is hard to argue that NIL was the cause of the sudden drop in LSU performance in 2021.

We averaged closer to 4 than 3 regular season losses, over 4 if you couldn't postseason losses and that was playing 1 fewer games.

Top 20 AP 6 times, top 15 4 times, Top 10 twice, top 5 once. 3 of those 6 seasons under Arnsparger, two of them immediately following under Archer.

I can only tell you what it felt like as a Tiger fan then vs now to me. I felt way more hopeless back then with a bright spot right in the middle. Now it feel more hopeful.

did FSU spend millions for two dlinemen? How’s that working. I agree you have to adapr or die but quality scouting and evaluation for fit and need remains critical.

LSU had good team but were consistent all the time.

LSU wasn't actually that much to look at when Arnsbarger wasn't at the helm. Stovall and Archer's last years were fricking abysmal. We considered the LIberty Bowl a success. Go see for yourself. LSU wpc in the 1980's was around 60%. It's 76% for the past 2 decades. That includes 3 nc's and 2 heisman winners. That's consistency. The 80's were football purgatory.

In the last 2 years, LSU has won more bowl games than they did in the entirety of the 80s. SOme of you must be going through menopause with these emotional swings you are taking right now.

HFS do not remind me. those orange and sugar bowl losses to nebraska in 82, 84 and 86 were painful. the 85 liberty bowl loss was a joke. only points was on a norman jefferson punt return? that was shades of our 2003 loss to UF at home. only points was a skylar green punt return for a TD.

the 87 gator bowl win was such a damn relief. 1988 season hall of fame bowl sucked also.

We were SEC Champions in 2 seasons of the 1980s (86 +88) and should have been in 1984. That is NOT middle of the pack, IMO.

Young and innovative is what is needed.

I just watched a mediocre QB from AZ state pair up with Kelly's old stale arse and put up one of the best QB seasons in history on the best offense in college FB. Then he went out to fix the defense and got a young innovative DC and the best DL coach in the game. Since then he's got a top 2-3 class lined up for 2025.

I think we're ok.

LSU was solid for most of the 80’s including a one loss team in 87. They made two bad hires that set them back a decade. The Joe Dean era is over. Players have always been paid under the table but LSU and those involved were for a lack of a better term stealing more than investing into the program. Read the book “Sacked” by Bob Brodhead. It explains why LSU football suffered and why tiger stadium looked like shithole for over a decade.

Scott is scared of the ncaa so he wasn’t venturing into grey area. He waited for 2-3 years for the mud to clear and rules to form. Now our NIL seems to work fine since we are loading up. It could be a smart long term play where we sacrificed a few years to position for this. So we were slow to move but now look to be in position.
