no disrespect to Little Rock but on a serious note, will they be the weakest team we face all year?

I know batters go through highs and lows but I'm curious if Jay experiments with different approaches almost like to create a Plan B or C for the batters. I say this because in 2023 our bats went quiet and then picked back up in the NCAAT.

Curious why you’d think this. The two teams RPI difference is like almost 200. Much better conference record in a much better conference.

They've also put this out there for Clemson. It's obviously not the best info, but it's something to talk about until Friday.
quote:

Clemson is listed at +115, which is surprising because that shouldn't be the case. I have the Tigers closer to the -190/-210 range for all of their games in this Regional.

Their pitching, led by Aidan Knaack, is really what sets them apart.

West Virginia, meanwhile, isn't in a good spot. The Mountaineers haven't performed well in Big 12 play, so they shouldn't be much of a threat in this spot. They simply haven't faced a ton of tough competition, and the numbers they've put up against that competition aren't all that impressive.

Now, Clemson didn't have the best run in the ACC Tournament, making quite a few mistakes in the field while struggling with timely hitting. Georgia Tech and North Carolina are stronger teams in the ACC, but that doesn't have an impact on this Regional.

I'd make the Tigers closer to -290 to win this Regional instead of the current +135 out in the market, so I'd even take them all the way to -150.

Clemson has the experience and a solid coach in Erik Bakich, making the Tigers my clear pick here.

This precisely why baseball (and basketball) need to follow football for post season scheduling, it’s ridiculous the number of deserving teams that get left out for these very weak teams.

yes

What is wild, they won the Big 12 regular season with a record of 19-9 while dropping five of their last six conference games (2/3 K State, swept by Kansas).

This LSU lineup, particularly Jared Jones and Daniel Dickinson, should give Urena fits.

If he throws only FBs then we should crush it but if the ball spins any at all, then JJ will struggle. He still hasn't learned to recognize and hit a slider or curve.
Hope he learns soon so he can have a long MLB career because he certainly have the power.

Rhode Island, meanwhile, is bringing even less to the hill. The Rams’ rotation is headlined by Trystan Levesque, a lefty who has been an inning-eater for URI this season. He threw 10 innings against Oregon earlier this season and has the command and stuff to silence just about any lineup that gets thrown at him.

Curiel and Brown if they face him

Disagree on favorable competition. DBU has the highest odds to win CWS amongst all 2 seeds, and is even higher than a few 1 seeds. They're 14th-18th in highest odds. As a 6 seed, it was horrible placing by whoever decides this.
