NFLDraftBuzz

This is a cool website to navigate for draft positions. With those that have declared our guys are ranked as such for DT.

No offense but If that’s true it must be an incredibly weak interior DL class.

When was that last updated.

Great for those guys if true, but that almost doesn’t seem possible

Maybe that's why they're going.

Looks like 3rd round projections and they are actually #15 and #17 for DTs, unless I’m reading it wrong.

Edit - I was. That’s for all DL, not just DT.

Masson Smith must have shown someone something on tape. Amazing. 0 was the right # for him.

So if Wingo, Smith, an Jefferson are the 1,3, 11th rated DT's in the draft, how in the hell wasn't LSU putting more pressure on the QB with 4 man rush?

If you needed more proof House needed to be fired..

That's crazy but then again I haven't followed much outside of LSU this year.

We all know some guys have measurables that translate better in NFL. Will he be invited to Combine? The underwear olympics as NFL Gms call it where he may do well until he gets on field. Not saying he will, because he didn't do anything here.

you are looking at DL as a whole. They are subdivided into NT/Tackle category. If this is true, then House was even worse than we thought.

Smith just needs to be in a system that utilizes him the right way and better coaching because his measurables will play at that level

I still think Wingo is a little too small and the NFL is gonna eat him up due to his size but you can't question his motor or effort so as a situational player you can definitely use his skillset

The player LSU really missed last year was J Roy, he didn't get all the glamor but he held that unit together last season

Reading the comments/notes, it's like whomever wrote it didn't actually watch him ever play
quote:

His closing burst is outstanding, and Smith routinely finishes plays. He has some range and toughness as a run defender, showing the ability to set the edge, though he could work on his straight-line speed and tackling range
quote:

A high-motor player who thrives on physicality, he’s generally able to fight and win in the phone booth
quote:

Made Bruce Feldman's Freak's List - ranked #12. He wrote "The former five-star recruit is one of the most gifted players in college football

Does this sound anything like the guy we all saw on the field?

They have an interesting way of ranking and categorizing DL. This is their all DL list LINK, Newton from Illinois is 2nd overall.

Also, some other guys in the list that I'd call DTs that are ranked ahead of Wingo.

What's really sad is that we have 3 DT on that list highly rated and the production we recieved was so poor. We obviously had talented individuals, but horrible coaching. Now the cubbard is bare, and we will have excellent coaching...

Good grief. There's zero chance Wingo is a day one pick. I love him as a player but his measurables are going to be an anchor.

Wingo is the precise opposite of Smith - great production but bad measurables. I see both Smith and Wingo sneaking into the late third early 4th. I'd personally take Wingo first because being a damn good football player is important. Maason hasn't shown that yet.

..which means our staff did a terrible job this year with the DL group.
