This thing has progressed to this point with little to no consequences over a fairly long period of time.

Maybe....Maybe not.
Maybe the FBI (at the request of the NCAA) has decided to jump on this BEFORE it becomes widespread. We don't know.

Question....If you were in an area where widespread looting and rioting were taking place and the local police were ordered to steer clear of looters, would you steal something alongside of the other looters?

I still can't understand what your real world analogies have to do with anyone caring about a coach breaking NCAA rules to win a basketball game. shite, I don't care that Sean Miller, Bill Self, Calipari, Saban or Coach O are breaking the rules. Finding a competitive advantage as been a part of sports since the beginning of time.

You think it's just the sport of basketball that is dirty? Remember which collegiate sport brings in the most revenue.

And how many times have we seen FB recruits from elite programs flashing wads of cash after committing to a school while the NCAA ignores the entire situation?

No. But it's been the dirtiest by far over the past 40 years.

How do we know that? During the BB trials it was brought up that this is happening in college football too. Not to mention several other instances of impermissible benefits.

Great reference.
Woodward won’t care. He wants to win, but win clean. Period. Too much at stake.
Rose-rinted Purple & Gold fans don’t care, but LSU BB isn’t gonna happen with Wade.
I hate it, but it’s true. Buckle up. Clock is ticking...

Explain to me how North Carolina skated free When there were mountains of indirect evidence against them? It was because no one admitted to receiving or giving benefits. What don’t do is what Missouri did and that is to cooperate with the NCAA. They did and got completely hammered. What you do is what UNC and others have recently done and that is deny everything and do not cooperate at all. If you do that they don’t have anything because the NCAA has no legal authority.

The FBI’s involvement has nothing to do the NCAA’s amateurism bylaws or the breadth and depth of those infractions. NCAA bylaw infraction is not a criminal offense.

The FBI is involved because of the criminal bribery involving shoe manufacturers paying to direct premier players to schools with whom the manufacturer has apparel contracts.

was wondering how long it was going to take for you to get to the "all of the successful programs are doing it" excuse.

Arizona and Kansas have already been given a NOA in this, Duke has been accused multiple times over for paying Zion and his family, where have you been?

If the NCAA is o ly going to attack h non blue bloods, again, they are just protecting their big brands because the big brands are absolutely doing the same stuff paying these players. Use your brain, why would they not be doing it if others are doing it? You think these kids or families desperate for money are choosing schools who arent offering them anything? You arent that naive I hope.

I'm not so sure of this analysis.

Again look at who has been named already, schools all over the country from all levels of power conferences. This touches everyone and the wiretap uncovered only a (good size) chunk of all of it.

So, you are OK with cheating?

I'm not ok with teams who get an unfair competitive advantage over others, if everyone is doing this, then it not really an unfair competitive advantage, is it? This isnt 1 or 2 schools, it's most of them if not any serious power conference school recruiting 4 and 5 star AAU talent.

If people believe that 5 star and prominent 4 star players are not being paid to play basketball, please take your heads out of the sand. A lot of the money seems to be coming to the players from shoe companies via AAU connections and handlers. The NCAA knows this. All college basketball coaches know this. Many reporters and fans know this. Rule breaking is the norm, not the exception, IMO.

Wade should not have spoken about the topic on the phone.

LSU should fight any NCAA NOA's just like Kansas is doing for Bill Self and company. I would hate to see LSU fall on the knife, and only later see the NCAA let Kansas and others off the hook.

Yeah, you're this dumb.

The FBI doesnt give a shite here about the implications for the NCAA, they care about tax money. They've concluded their case. IT was a trial for a few individuals and it's over.

North Carolina is a blue blood basketball school, while LSU is a blue blood football school. The NCAA found ways around punishing North Carolina because they dont want to damage college basketball revenues in March Madness.

If you think LSU is gonna dick around and not cooperate fully with the NCAA then you are a fool. Football is our golden goose and its better to have the basketball program be the sacrificial lamb then have the NCAA looking into the football program.

I know I am contributing to it now, but the last post was just before this so it doesn't matter.

I really wish normal posters would stop feeding the trolls and TD admins would anchor these threads. Having nothing to talk about is bad enough without having these threads at the top of the list.

Irish, I regularly attend the boo William's eybl tournament in Hampton, VA.

I've gone to every one over the last 10 years, they skipped Hampton last year for some reason, I don't know why.

7 out of 10 of those years, the college coaches were allowed to attend, (there are dead and live periods in the recruiting calendar, and some years they are not allowed to attend).

My son has taken a piss in the urinal right next to coach k (duke). That is how close we are to these coaches at the eybl. Hell, I've gotten to know and sit with Bruce Hornsby several years (only at these tourneys) due to me being decked out in my LSU gear, and his son played for us a few years back.

If you would attend only one of these events, I GUARANTEE your eyes would be wide open in regard to the recruiting game. John Calipari knows me, if only in a sense of: "Hey LSU!!!! how's it been going!!!"

These aau/eybl/ high school coaches will tell you almost anything when you chat them up. One of the Huntington prep (WV) coaches told me a few years back that nc st. paid TJ Warren $950,000 to come back to school an extra year.

When LSU was hot and heavy after point guard Malik Newman a few years back, I had a sloppily dressed (extremely overweight, dirty sweatsuit etc..) eybl coach tell me in between games that Newman was headed to miss st., GUARANTEED. I told my son that dude was full of it, LSU would get him over them. 10 minutes later, we see that same guy HUGGING John Calipari. At that point, it was obvious that eybl coach knew his stuff, and Newman ended up in Starkville.

You can almost smell the cash in the air at these events. I promise you, with the RAREST of exceptions, EVERY top 50, and virtually all of the top 100 guys receive illegal inducements to attend college. There were text messages between Bill Self and one of the runners discussing how "Duke does it". One of the Clemson and Kansas coaches discussed what Zion and family were asking for to sign, then he ends up at Duke for free in your opinion????? Even after several reports that his family was renting a million dollar home in a gated community in Durham??? C'mon man, you can't possibly be that naive.
