Does that mean there would be a $20M “salary cap?” They would all just find a way to cheat

Putting a salary cap like system may cool the collective based NIL system down a bit. NIL will still exist though. There is no getting rid of that. So simply paying a player won't solve the issues of a player getting more money at school A than school B.

What? The under the table, tax free payments the players are getting “somehow” made it better for you as opposed to it being in the open?

Come on man. You have nostalgia bias. As far as players are concerned, this is the exact same game. They’ve been “playing for pay” for decades now.

The players hold ALL of the power here as they should considering they ARE the product being “sold”.

And they got "paid" in a free college education. Maybe if we went back to that we wouldn't be watching a bunch of entitled assholes.

I agree. I'm old. I hate NIL and i hate the transfer portal. and i believe both are thinning the support for CFB. Still a season ticket holder but my enthusiasm is effectively curbed. Maybe it's my age and maybe it's the changes or a combo, but i agree with your statement.

They will replace the NLI with a new binding document between school & athlete. Not sure what that will look like, but it’s not like it will be a free for all with athletes/transfer portal.

Headline is misleading because it makes it seem like they are getting rid of players “signing” with a school altogether & that’s not true. It will no longer be a national letter of intent, but they will sign some type of document to agree to go to the school & receive financial aid

So what happens? I assumed we’d wait until the LOIs come in before my son makes his decision. What do you do now? What happens if a coaching change happens at a school that he has a formal offer from?

When an athlete enters the transfer portal, they don’t sign a new LOI to go to a new school. They sign an “athletics aid agreement”. I’m sure it will just be something like that moving forward

For sloppiness, effectively cheating and getting caught.

Rules change, but that doesn't mean you are allowed to break the rules because they might change. And if everyone is breaking the rules and you feel you must to compete, be cautious and precise about how you do it and how you cover yourself and the program in the process.

We all liked what the trajectory of LSU Basketball looked like but let's not pretend Wade didn't cue things up for the NCAA. Combined with the football stuff going on at the time, it was simply an unfortunate set of events.

This is capitalism. The players have 100% control here because there is ZERO obligation to attend college for sports.
What if I told you there was never an obligation to attend college for sports and idiot lawmakers getting involved to destroy the NCAA model, which players voluntarily participated in, is the exact opposite of capitalism?

If I wanted to watch paid athletes, free agency, and a playoff system…I think I’ll just watch better talent and coaching in the NFL.

College football is dead.

The NCAA model was found to be illegal.
Therein lies the problem.

He committed to Ark to tell Ole Miss to keep looking…he had both offers going into his Jr year…and he’s friends with other top ‘25 kickers, and wanted Ole Miss to pick one of them.

Who knows what coaches will be where by January. He got a UF offer this summer…just depends on the ST coach at Ark and the support staff at UF…and the Ole Miss crew goes to UF…who knows, that place may be back on the radar.
