just dont understand the infatuation you guys have for Brennan. He hasnt shown anything worth being excited about.

Go back and look at him play. He has the talent to be an All-SEC type player but needs a competent offensive system.

I don’t understand the hate for the guy. He was thrown into a disastrous situation last year and people are blaming him. You had Canada and O going at each other over schematics and the QBs caught in the middle.
Honestly, the situation last year tells me that Etling was a much better QB than we all gave him credit for.

So please tell me what Brennan has showed that leads you to believe he's our next QB. He didn't show much his freshman year, and he wasn't good in the spring.

He got playing time in his very first game as a Tiger. That according to the coaches, he was pretty close to winning the starting job both this & last year. If not for his injury, he would have been playing some this year and who knows if he may have done well and gained steam over a “cold” Joe Burrow the past month or so. Coach O has said at the beginning of the season he was open to playing both QB’s. And after 3 seasons with the team, I expect him to be ready to take over. We’ll see.

Umm. A guy weighing 225 and being 6'5" is pretty big. By comparison, Drew Brees is 6' and weighs less than 210. Brady and Manning both around 6'5 and 225 pounds. Rodgers is 6'2 and 220 or so.

These guys all played college at much lower weights and then went on to play long careers in the NFL. I think the weight thing is a little overblown. There are receivers that are 6'4 200 pounds that get blasted all the time. People can take hits differently no matter what size they are. It's not some foregone conclusion that if he gets sacked he's going to break in half.

I am a firm believer that you should not start in the SEC until at least your 3rd year unless you are a phenom first round talent. Burrow coming in has given us the ability to develop a Brennan and then Finley and not thrown them in as true freshmen and sophomores like we did with Lee, Jefferson, Harris, etc.

We all saw him play last season and he had a poor spring game. He didnt beat out Etling and he couldnt beat out Burrow in fall camp.

You're basing this off of?

That's more than adequate

Yeah, I'm not saying he's Peyton Manning, but he looks like he has about the same build as he did in college.

This. People are so dumb acting like 10 pounds is gonna be the difference between him being able to take a hit or not. Will he benefit from added weight sure but like you said he’s not gonna break in half over 10 pounds in either direction.

Well, apparently O is going to hire the legendary QB coach Sean Salisbury. Last seen ruining his own life by showing anyone without a sense of humor his small penis.

What could possibly go wrong?

You can get away with it when playing lower tier SEC teams but it won’t work against The Bama’s or UGAs of the world. Tua is a rare exception and it also helps that he’s playing on a team full of five star players.

You can more consistently win SEC games with older QBs and you can better develop them for the SEC and pros by giving them time.

Look at past LSU QBs with success.
Jamarcus Russel - redshirt JR
Matt Flynn - redshirt senior
Matt Mauck - Senior
Mettenburger - Redshirt JR and SR
Rohan Davey - redshirt senior

Sure, there are exceptions but generally, you are spot on. You want a guy with 2-3 years of development in your program to lead the team.

You cant be serious... Freshmen and Sophmore QBs have been taking over college football and the SEC for the last 10-12 years. This isnt the 1990s.

No, he’s not. Not even a chance. He signed with LSU knowing that he would have to compete if he wanted the starting job, and he’s learning a lot from Joe.

We haven’t blown out a lot of teams and basically we need to RS him to get any real value out of his career.

What did Rohan Davey or Matt Flynn show you in their first 3 -4 years in the program that would have led you to believe they would have been successful when they got the job? Rohan showed up at 6'3 - 227 lbs. and Flynn showed up at 6'2 - 224 lbs. They both played against the best HS competition that Texas and South Florida had to offer. Brennan showed up at 6'5 - 185 lbs and played against Mississippi competition. Few question Brenann's QB skills, intelligence and work ethic. He was voted stongest arm at the Elite 11 Finals. You want to judge him on what he did as a true freshman that was not an EE and his Spring performance learning his 2nd offense in 6 months?

complete nonsense. Young and inexperienced QBs play all over the nation, and at very high levels.

Just another excuse.

totally agreed, I really think that Les' demise goes back to his signing of Ryan Perriloux (and later dismissal), which not only screwed LSU out of a potential national championship or two, but TOTALLY screwed up quarterback development...
