Brennan is in the perfect situation. He will give Burrow a run for his money next year for the starting position. Burrow ain’t no Tua! Obviously the offensives coaches last year thought Brennan was good enough to get play time in 6 games and was considered the heir apparent to Etling. With the new red shirt rule the coaches saw an opportunity to bring in a grad senior and have Brennan as primary back up while he continues to develop and still play in 4 games OR the entire season if Burrow got hurt. Not only the coaches saw this but every other QB on the roster realized it and such the mass exodus from the qb room. None of those other QBs leave the program if they thought they could one day beat out Brennan.

Was there some doubt about this in your mind?

Probably due to watching LSU QB play for the past decade

With the experience that the Online and receivers are getting and with the way that this recruiting class is shaping up. Brennan should have everything he needs to be successful when he's ready to take over.

Boy the tides have surely changed lately. I remember when he first got here he was going to beat out Etling for the starting role. Now he is being set up for success, which I don't take issue with if that is indeed the case. I just wonder next year what will be the reasoning for him not being the player this place puffed him up to be since high school.

Probably the same reason why 90+% of QBs that come out of high school go through the exact same thing. In any conference much less the SEC West. Maturity and development. Hell if Hurts plays well in the NC game last year we still might not know the name Tua to the extent that we do.

I watched him exclusively warming up vs miss state

Dude has a cannon.
Make every throw in field and has “prettiest” ball/spiral.

A ear to grow abs mature mentally and physically is exactly what he needed.
LSU is in good shape at qb for the next 2-3 years.

With that said is like to see him get lot of time his week.

I just dont understand the infatuation you guys have for Brennan. He hasnt shown anything worth being excited about.

He isnt playing until 2020 (if he wins the job). There will be so much roster turnover between now and Fall 2020.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Coach O go JUCO and/or get another transfer from another program this offseason for our starting QB next year.

He plays QB for LSU, there's a shite ton of doubt whether an LSU QB is being set up for success, what are you talking about?

I’m sure all the ones saying that Brennen hasn’t shown us anything are the same ones saying Narcisse should start and is a good passer. I would almost take Les Miles’s QB evaluation skills over some of these people.

90% of the QBs are not believed to be day one starters at the schools they sign with. Brennan was supposed to already be on his second season as a starter, but has yet to beat out 2 transfer QBs.

Hell Burrow didn't play well against South Eastern and most people still don't know who Brennan is.

“ Brennan Supposed to be the starter”, said who? You made that up in your head. No football person ever automatically assumes that. And we had an OC that probably lost his job because he wanted Brennan to be the starter and build for the future. Instead you got a HC that is a DLine coach who to this day is telling the OC how to coach his offense and who to play and what style of offense to run. That’s why we look the way we look against SELA and everybody else and nothing is changing until coaching changes. Brennan would be flourishing in almost any other system and situation.

You don’t think they hit QBs 30 years ago? I have news for you, cupcake, QBs were treated much more violently 30 years ago.

Erik, there are always a couple of posters who will assert absolutely anything. No way in the world did a large portion of posters think Brennan was a day one starter.

Most are reasonable fans who would like to see a pipeline of QBs of Brennan’s quality - one or two per year - so that we always have three or four year guys ready to step in and provide at least the level of QB play that Etling and Burrow have given us.

Harris, Brennan, Finley and Parrish are just what we need. Most will wash out, of course, but those should give us QB play that at least won’t be a handicap. In other words, exactly what Bama has had for the last 10 years.

But when you go years recruiting rejects, like Rivers, then when you get a good recruit, like Harris, you have to play him way before he’s ready and without forcing him to compete against other good prospects.
