I honestly couldn't care less about a HC's record against P5 opponents while at a small school. His conference record there is the only thing really relevant.

McMahon is 6-29 career vs P5 opponents. We’re fricked
I keep seeing people say this, and it's a poor point. To be fair to McMahon, Will Wade was 2-13 against P5 teams prior to LSU. I don't think that's a good barometer to hold a coach too.

He's at LSU now. What he did at Murray State is none of my concern.

It’s really not but it fits the agenda and unfortunately we didn’t see much this year to give us much hope for the future

To his credit, MSU improved again after that (two of those year's Ja Morant was on the team), before going 13-13 in 20-21.
You forgot to add that he then went 31-3 without Morant the following season before being hired by LSU.

And you forgot to read the last paragraph of the post

MSU had consistently been a very good mid-major program since the late 80's when McMahon took over. 13 NCAA Tournament appearances...which is really impressive for a program in a "one bid" league. While McMahon certainly had his share of great moments (last year being one of the best seasons in school history), he also has "lows" not experienced by any of the 6 coaches that preceded him.

He had two tournament wins in 7 years there.
That’s one more than Will Wade had at LSU.

No, the issue is LSU isn’t a “learn on the job” job. He should’ve already figured out what didn’t work. Yes the SEC is different, but it is still basketball.
He mentioned how he learned stuff in his press conference. Big red flag personally. We took a chance on this clown and it is looking like a bad decision. I understand giving him another year, but a similar trajectory should equate to being fired towards the end of the year. He literally has no where to go but up.

Obviously there’s plenty of reason for concern that McMahon is in over his head, but he did show on two separate occasions at Murray St that he can turn things around and fairly quickly. He followed up a losing season in Year 2 with a conference title and NCAA tournament berth in Year 3. Likewise he followed a 13-13 season with a 31-3 season that included an NCAA tournament win.

So what happens if McNeese hires him and he gets a show cause after, he has to wait a year or two to coach
What more does the NCAA or IARP need to make the final ruling. We are now a year out from the NOA.

Murray state ain’t LSU. They ain’t in the SEC. Hell the SEC isn’t even a juggernaut conference either. Asking to finish in the top 7 isn’t asking a whole lot.
Imagine if LSU was in the Big12. It would be ten times worse

I read it.
In your post, you referenced the ending season records from the years his teams underperformed but not the record from his last year (his best season) which resulted from a team that exceeded all expectations.
You also appear to credit Morant as the reason for the team’s turnaround but fail to mention he wasn’t on MM’s best team.
Seems like a backhanded compliment.

Y’all trying to throw shade at a dude that had a sweet 16 team and missed because he got suspended. McMahon just went 2-16. Just some ignorant mother frickers on here.

WW was still coaching that team - anyone around then and following knows that to be the case, he wasn't on the bench for the actual games but oversaw everything else.
