The coaches don’t vote on it
So who does? Everything I've ever seen seems to suggest that it's the coaches who vote on all those honors.

Coach of the year should be based on where a team was to where they are now. Improvement, success, overall team results. True, South Carolina has a great team and has for years. They also have more talent but Mulkey has transformed a mid-level team to a top ten team in her first year. She demands and gets every ounce of energy out of her players when they are out there on the court and has a keen eye for making real time in game adjustments. SEC? Hell, she could be national coach of the year.

Meh, the "race card" has nothing to do with it. The COY in the SEC almost always goes to the coach who's team wins the regular season championship. I think it would be more of a controversy if Staley wins National Coach of the Year, over Kim Mulkey...............................

Totally phucking embarrassing.

It would make no sense at all and should be a black eye to the conference COY process for a coach winning the national award without winning their own conference award.

The answer to your question has been stated like 3 or 4 times in the thread. Not to be an arse , but it wouldn’t kill you to read a couple pages of replies before asking. Same to the guy I quoted.
The Sids vote for it, according to the earlier posts. Ours is Kent lowe

I am not on the race card train like others although I wonder how you could explain Joni Taylor winning it last year finishing 4th but not giving it to Gary Blair who's A&M team came out of nowhere to win the SEC regular season.

I mean, I did see that, but assumed those comments were wrong because of so much out there suggesting it's the coaches. My bad. I did actually read it though.
And "not to be an arse" but you were. I read every post, but was seeking clarification sheesh.

Wouldn't winning the National Coach of the Year award be a sweet consolation?

I'd love to see us match up again in the conference tourney, settle it on the court.

Staley is the same coach who said, earlier in the season, that if Fargas had had the same support as KM had, she'd still be at LSU. FWIW.

Shocked she didn’t win this, the award is made for the season she just had.
She doesn’t even have her players yet.

From the SEC website:
"First-team and second-team All-SEC honorees, All-Freshman team, All-Defensive team, along with Player, Coach and Freshman, Defensive Player, 6th Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year were chosen by the league's 14 coaches."

Let's just whip USC's arse in the tournament and let them know who the best coach is.
