Oh god... I remember. I was there and had blocked it from my memory. Thanks for bringing it up.

He didn’t foul out do who knows?

I remember Rick Mattick with a huge basket late.

Best one for me was traveling up to Lexington in Jan 1987. Some friends talked me into it and I wasn't too enthused. I just knew UK was gonna beat the dog shite out of us. I had been raised in Kentucky and wanted no part of being anywhere all the Big Blue fans that had driven me nuts as a kid.

LSU had a three point lead when halftime started During halftime, the refs reversed an offensive goal-tending call on UK and the second half started with LSU leading by only one point.

Dale Brown was PISSED when he saw the changed score after coming out of the locker room, and the refs' explanations pissed him off even more. I remember him gathering the team around him and saying, "That's the LAST two ***-**** points they're gonna score on us for the rest of this ****** game!" (And he wasn't far off with that prediction and threat.)

Final score was LSU 76 - Kentucky 41...

... AT RUPP ARENA no less!!!

So, yeah, I guess the drive from Baton Rouge to Lexington was worth it that once.

Runner up was versus Loyola Marymount in 1990. Loyola Marymount scored 141 points on us and STILL LOST by seven. Final score: LSU 148 - Loyola Marymount 141. There was absolutely NO defense played by either team for this game. It was like watching a tennis match with your head on a swivel.

I have been trying to find replays of that game vs Vandy anywhere. Have had no luck. The students were relentless that day. It was a thing of beauty and then the guys cut the nets down post game. Truly one of my favs.

Since Willie Sims passed last week, I'll mention this one.

I didn't realize he had passed last week. He was one of my favorites. The "Super Sub" jersey number 10. He was amazing to watch. (Hell, all of that 1980 team was.)

Very sad to learn of his passing.

Ice Dome game vs Kentucky in 2014. Such a wasted roster with Johnny Jones as coach. JOB, Martin, Mickey, Quarterman, Stringer, Hornsby, Hickey.

LSU-Arizona Shaw beat the twin towers Williams and Rooks. He started the cabbage patch dance after dunks

Of the games I attended:

Part of me wants to say blowing a 31-point lead at home against Kentucky in 94. From ecstatic to utterly defeated in the blink of an eye.

Arizona in 2000 was really good.

Anthony Wilson’s buzzer beater against Memphis was awesome.

1981 Kentucky

Unfortunately I can’t really remember watching Pete Maravich in the Ag Center, but I was there.

LSU up by one with one second left to play and LSU was throwing the ball in bounds under the Georgia basket. Can’t remember who from LDU threw the ball in but they just launched it down court and no one touched it.

1978 in the PMAC vs #1 Kentucky. That was the greatest single game in the history of LSU basketball. LSU won in OT after all 5 starters had fouled out. The PMAC was PACKED to the rafters, and rocking! Even the overflow viewing room beneath the arena was packed (that may not still exist).

I don't think LSU had ever beaten Ky until this game

LSU had beaten Kentucky, once. That was in 1972 during the opening season of the PMAC. Kentucky came in ranked about #3 or #4 and LSU was in the throws of a 10-16 season which led to the firing of Pete's dad. Nevertheless, we somehow beat the pants off the Cats, by 17 points.

I have three I saw in person

1969 - Maravich scored 66 vs. Tulane in the Cow Palace. I was 15, wearing floppy socks.

1978 - Tigers upset #1 Kentucky in OT after all of our starters had fouled out.

1979 - The best environment I’ve ever experienced in the PMAC. LSU needed a win over Bama to clinch the SEC title. When Dale Brown saw that was going to happen he called time out to allow the SEC title banner to be unfurled. The already ballistic crowd exploded.
