Could you imagine having Jacob Misiorowski on the mound at the Box for a couple years or more?

It took him a few years to ramp up his fb. He wasn't throwing 100mph out of hs.

I think players might be more likely to avoid juco and sign with teams that can provide NIL opportunities if these rules were to be put into place

Unless they change the juco eligibility to two years, it’s going to push the very best players there instead of to 4 year schools. It’s likely we would also see a proliferation of post grad baseball academies similar to IMG or TXNL.

There are a lot of unintended consequences that would come from this and the blanket assumption that it would be great for college baseball may not be entirely accurate.

Agreed. In this new era of D1 college pay to play, I suspect that the effect of this proposal passing will be hard to predict

He doesn't have to hit 104.5 mph to make an impact on a pitching staff. I'm just dreaming of the possibility of very elite talents making it to campus should they be ineligible to be drafted immediately from high school

This is all so the owners don’t have to spend money on minor league baseball. Cheap fricks

I mean, MiLB is an awful product that makes them no money and provides no real entertainment. Why not minimize it as much as possible?

So what happens to players exiting HS who are not college material or have interest in college but are decent or good baseball players? This probably covers about half of them. Also if they do this to American HS players then they will have to do something about the 17-18 yr olds coming from international sources.

The real purpose of this is to shrink the minors and let the college teams (boosters) take over the majority of those costs:

The real purpose of this is eliminating HS players who dont sign after being drafted and hence member team loses a draft pick.

I think this is going to be great. Kids get to go to college, develop, play , get the college experience and if good enough progress to the minors

This is a money savings play for the MLB in the form of signing bonuses. Signing bonuses have been getting out of hand for years. They are not going to control college teams. This just gives them a better look at players before spending money on them as it would add so much talent to college rosters, shrink the draft, saves signing bonus money, among other things. Would be great for college baseball, would like them to be locked in for 3 years in college though. What it will do is drastically alter this transfer portal shite when the top freshman in the country have to sign with colleges eating up roster spots.

I would absolutely love this. Please let this happen.

What's your reasoning? Just curious, there's a lot of impact that seems hard to predict right now. I'd have to give it some thought

College ball would be way more similar to pro bowl I think. Wooden bats would be here in short order. Lot more parity across the sport too I'd think

A lot fewer kids will get a chance at pro ball. Also the MLB might need to remember that the NCAA doesn't seem to be able to enforce eligibility rules right now. Every 5th-7th year player we have bouncing around colleges across the country is one less spot for an 18 year old project to develop
