Agree with everything you said but one factor you missed is age. MLB likes to get you young. So even though Jake could still have leverage, he would get nicked for being a year older. Getting drafted at 21.5 years old after 3 years is better than 22.5 years old.

So everyone had complained for years and years about how college baseball/LSU loses all their elite recruits to the draft and wished they could see a day where all the elite recruits had to play college baseball because LSU would definitely be a juggernaut with their entire recruiting classes coming to campus.. And now that this might be finally coming to fruition yall all of a sudden have a problem with it and don’t like it?
I mean come on now what do yall want?

Some of us are happy with the rate of winning a CWS every other year in the current environment. The transfer portal calendar could change and be an obvious benefit to us but otherwise, don't fix what ain't broken. The current landscape works for us

Don’t think the mlbpa is going to let that pass imo.
The initial quotes would seem to suggest as much, and the big money guys tend to drive the votes for the players on these things, but this does delay competition for roster spots by a couple of years at least and major league teams are promoting guys younger and younger these days. May not be as cut and dried as it seems on the surface?

Me no likey the draft eligible after sophomore year. Fuk that 2 yrs of the bonus babies on campus far outweighs leaving after 2 yrs.
Roster turnover will be even further exacerbated. It will get out of control, even moreso than it is now.

After 2 years at JUCO

Unless they change the juco eligibility to two years, it’s going to push the very best players there instead of to 4 year schools.
the proposal is across the board (whether NCAA, JUCO, or some independent league, etc.)
2 years removed from High School and 20 years old by Sept 1 of your draft year.

Yeah, I saw that later.
The only way this would actually be more palatable is if they didn’t change the draft eligibility other than to remove HS guys. Then, all the guys who only want to go pro can go play JUCO ball in Arizona or Nevada and hit with wood bats for a year while the rest of college baseball operates largely as it has been.
