Well, the one thing I'll say about Woods from remembering that game last year is that our DB's sure as hell can't cover him.

That would indicate he's good. Or else something a bit more depressing.

If he is an elite player, we need him. We have Boutte and then a bunch of solid players, but no one you can count on to win a one on one and make the catch. We are all hoping that one of the freshmen can be that guy, but we haven't seen that yet.

He was just a three star.

This is a terrible take. The three-headed monster that Joe had on the edge is a big part of why we had a legendary year in 2019

the only WR in the SEC last year with more yards per catch was Waddle

I’d be ok with us keeping 3-5 slots for transfers each year ...talent will come if we have room

Doesn't have anything to do with yards per catch. He played early and got injured.

Trey Palmer is the guy that needs to develop into a #2WR. Elite speed and good hops. Very athletic. Not sure why he hasn't earned more PT. Any ideas?

Just my opinion, but I think he lacks the strength needed to combat physical corners at the top of his routes. Gets knocked off his route easily.

And his hands still need work.

He can still be a great player. Just needs more time.

While we’re on the subject, I really liked what I saw from Deion Smith and Alex Adams in the spring game. Though I realize it’s just the spring game.

Looking at the roster, the S from Vandy is the better choice to fill the last spot.

Did y’all watch the spring game? We have Boutte and Kirklin and...a whole bunch of potential.

Woods has proven he can play in the SEC unlike the WRs on our roster not named Boutte.

I understand, but you'd have him for one year. I think our freshman like Smith and Hilton can definitely make strides inside the top 5 WRs for LSU.

I like to refer to Alabama a couple years back. After the 2016 season, Bama only brought back one WR with more than 14 catches, and only two with more than five. The very next year two of their 3 best WRs were freshman, and the 3rd freshman WR had 3 TDs including the game winner in the national championship. They brought back those 3 freshman as sophomores for 2018 and AGAIN a true freshman finished 2nd on the team in receiving despite all those other guys.

What I'm saying is give it time for our freshman to show their worth. We have some beasts that will pop off this year. We have guys like Kirklin, Moore, and Jenkins to hold on until then.

ETA. IF Gilbert comes back, he's our #2 pass catcher regardless of who is on the team.

You have to have hands to be able to catch the ball. If he can figure out the hands, he could be a real weapon.
