I agree with your analysis. Brian Griese mentioned during the A&M game, while reviewing the LSU-SC game film, LSU ran the same 2-man route 18 times against the Gamecocks. It is very difficult for a receiver to get seperation when he runs an 8 yard sit-down route. It also makes it very easy for the db to cover. Not to mention we don't run much play action on 1st or 2nd down which enables the LB's to drop into coverage. Our passing scheme is the biggest problem with our offense not the personnel.
this is true....
hell, it does not matter what play you run,
run it 18 times against a decent team, it becomes harder and harder to complete.

You are right. Two man routes should work but when there are 8 men in the box blitzing every down and the db's are playing press coverage, all you basically have are slants and out routes. The problem is our receivers can't get separation and when they do they cant catch the damn ball ala Beckham. So why not spread it out a little more. Run some singleback sets with 3-4 wide recivers to make them play more nickel. When they start creeping up to the line you run pass routes at the safety to make him choose who he is going to cover. It's simple football for dummies.
Agree 100%. I have been argueing with idiots at work about this. Once you spread the defense out, pull the lb's out the gaps and make the safeties back up, our Running game will look even better as we will be running against 6 man lines rather than 9-10.

Honestly I could not agree with you more about the coaches not helping mett. On the touchdown deep to beckham earlier this season was a perfect example. Beckham was the only receiver running a route. Granted it worked. But what was mett to do if beckham wasn't open? Many of the rollout plays they give mett two receivers. Usually they do not even use the running back or even a tight end for a check down. Mett is our qb next year. He can not develop with only two options. I do like the screens we have been using against sc n am. That will help with the talent we have at running back we need them to have the ball in the open. Also I was wondering why not use shep out of wildcat with the passing threat making teams not stack box with ware in.

we definitely run way too many I form normal and I-form twin sets and far too many slants and curls/comebacks.
We have discussed this here ad nauseum.

We would probably agree to disagree because I believe when you start the game in MAX protect, I believe it is gameplan. The more defenders that are in the box, the more blitzers the the QB and O-Line have to worry about. They literally can come from all over. However, if you make the defense defend the entire field, the then "blitzers" are now in coverage (yes, they can still come, but they are coming from distance which is picked up more easily). Most of the time, when offenses spread defenses out, they will either be in a 1 or 2 high look (safeties) which removes more guys from the box. From a passing scheme (high/low) a corner. Simply put, you split the corner and whatever decision he makes is wrong. Hope this helps..like your post

These responses are hilarious considering how issues raised in this thread appear to make sense to so many. The LSU, LSU, LSU thread is likely more appropriate for these folks since since most posts there have cute emoticons and single sentence responses, which are easy to read and comprehend.

holy shite did not read. I didn't know books were posted on here.

I did say more to the STORY....not sentence. When you learn to have substance behind some of your post, you will type more than one sentence or "tl/dr"!!I am not going to half arse post anything so I can spend all day answering you buffoons. The people that want to read it great, people that dont, thats your choice. Most of the people that do not want to read it are guys that are scared its going to be objective and they might have to face the truth sooner rather than later.

And what nationally-ranked NCAA team have you led...or played for?
This is a stunningly irrelevant question. So unless one has "led" or played in the NCAA, one cannot have an informed opinion? The point about play-action is a good one. Why doesn't LSU do that given its running game?
Maybe RummelTiger in his state of sagacious self-satisfaction can explain it to all who have never played for or led an NCAA team.

Nick Saban is going to run "pick"...err, um, I mean "rub" routes every single pass.
If LSU does not not run the same "rub" routes that Bama runs, I will bet dollars to donuts that LSU loses.

So I assume you played for.....? Is this the criteria to be able to post on tigerdroppings. Wow!! And most of these distinguished ranters that have led a many of nationally ranked teams (or played for one) don't have a football IQ high enough to post anything other than "tl/dr"...
Hammerhead, I assume if u feel this is the criteria to make an objective post on tigerdroppings, I assume there is no way anyone would ever hire a coach that does not fall under your strict criteria. Nick Saban and Lou Holtz played for nationally ranked Kent State. Then they both coached at such powerhouses as William and Mary, UConn. Wait a minute, how did these guys get Head Coaching positions if they didn't led or play at a nationally ranked school. This is BS. They can be successful great coaches AND they don't have to have your criteria. But yet I have to have it to make a post on tigerdroppings. You are a buffoon

Yeah, that's what I meant.
Get off your high horse and face the fact that you have no clue as to what you're talking about.
You think you do, but you don't.
