re: Your Top Hopes for #75

My thing is mathieu is ranked higher than most lsu players in draft. He has had impressive workouts and could be a great nickel back. Throw everything out the window he is a ballhawk. Then put that with his ability to make plays. Sproles could focus on running the ball and not worry about returns. Cause lets face it sproles avoided returns this year. And the other return guys are embarrassing. I mean roby fumbled a couple returns. Mathieu has incredible upside. I think that his past kept him out of first round but I'm surprised he's this high.
By the way he did pass drug test and when he did interview with espn you could tell he has grown up some

re: Will LSU become a 3/4 loss team from 2013 forward?

Okay I don't see how you figure three to four losses. Florida is home and we played worst game of season against Florida this year. Our team has developed so much that if we ran through this years schedule again we would win all or maybe have one loss.
You also forgot to mention Georgia in Athens and kent state. I do not chalk those as losses but kent state will be tougher than people think. And Uga on road can be tough. But I really think the only loss for next year i would even consider would be bama on road. We have too much speed on our front four for manziel.
Ha and lastly. I am not sure why you would even consider Tcu a loss. That's crazy talk. Why don't fans like you just go support a team like Alabama with the ignorant fans. Cause as an lsu fan to even consider something like that you are crazy.
We will be the most talented team in college football next year. Doesn't mean we will be best.

SDSU is where I'm studying. I didn't see the interview with Saban that all of you mentioned. This was just what I noticed. And you do realize one corner can't stop a screen considering he has five lead blockers at that point.

Keep in mind this is just my opinion. And I am currently working on my masters in sports psychology and intend on coaching at the college level someday.

First off let me start by saying in no means am I a Saban fan. And the reason this post is a week late is because I wanted to research to make sure Saban was calling the plays the last drive.
This is what I noticed:
On the last drive of one possession games lsu always plays a prevent until the other team gets about to the lsu 35 and Chavis dials up the blitz. Well Saban knew this and exploited it to the max. He knew that lsu defense would be tough inside the thirty. So he comes out n takes what the d gives him. Ah mcarron knows the next three plays before he runs the first one. They can throw wherever as long as they get a first down because of clock stoppage rule to move chains (which I think needs to be done away with). Well they moved the ball and ran a no huddle so lsu could not adjust. Then as soon as they got to about the thirty five he threw an incomplete pass. Saban knew this gave lsu time to adjust and they would be coming out dialing up blitzes. And what is the biggest play you can make against a blitz. A screen. And I do believe that he either gave mcarron the choice or he signaled in the direction once they saw lsu line up. The screen went to the side lsu sent three extra blitzers. And he could have walked to end zone.
Now I didn't notice this right as it was happening so I can't say I would have done the blitz on that play differently. But I do know that the conservative two safeties deep doesn't work in college. The clock stops when teams get first downs. It is too easy for a team to drive 80 yards in 45 seconds on a prevent defense in college. They knew bama just needed a field goal so they weren't going for the home run. It was actually as lsu got the ball back that I realized how Saban baited is into that screen

re: Thank God for Loston's pick 6, the ole prevent was giving it up again.....

Man I couldn't agree more. We showed against bama we have the best defense In the country. Week in and week out our defense ruins every offensive gameplan thrown at them. And then when all we have to do is let our d get out there and play the same way they have been playing, we go into this conservative crap. My question is does les have some sort of influence on this? That prevent made aj mccarron have a huge story and handed bama a victory. And all that noise about mcarron being great for that drive. That's nonsense. The media should have bashed the entire lsu coaching staff and not credited bama so much. Don't get me wrong I hate people who want les fired. He just needs to be a little less stubborn. Lsu had the superstar complex just like USC this year. I think a lot of players thought they would steamroll everyone to bama.

re: Mett......more to the story

Honestly I could not agree with you more about the coaches not helping mett. On the touchdown deep to beckham earlier this season was a perfect example. Beckham was the only receiver running a route. Granted it worked. But what was mett to do if beckham wasn't open? Many of the rollout plays they give mett two receivers. Usually they do not even use the running back or even a tight end for a check down. Mett is our qb next year. He can not develop with only two options. I do like the screens we have been using against sc n am. That will help with the talent we have at running back we need them to have the ball in the open. Also I was wondering why not use shep out of wildcat with the passing threat making teams not stack box with ware in.
