This.

If LSU would simply use the basic concept that every offensive coordinator tries to accomplish from Pop Warner to the NFL, the offense would have more success. I apologize in advance for the long post, but hope this helps RR
I'll pass it along to Les. We're tight.

RR,I made this post yesterday. However, I never mentioned anything about X's and O's!!! This is clearly his weakness. He needs to get out of his own way. His unpredictability is what made him tough to play, but all that is gone. You have to admit his onside kicks, fake punts, fake FGs put points on the board. Now they are not there. Just a fact,it is easier to do that when you are the underdog. When you are the favorite, your mindset changes from "hell, we arent suppose to win, lets try it" to "if this doesnt work,it might cost us the game"!!
This! It's like Miles' balls got snipped at some point in the last 4 years and he's lost his edge as a coach. I hope that he's ready to start rolling the dice again, but I'm afraid that he won't.

Well, it was only two years ago when he did the fake FG at Florida...does that not count?

Frequency of crazy aggressive play calling would suggest yes. Going from that crazy TD to Byrd, on-side kicks and numerous 4th down gambles to one exciting play that was two years ago, imo suggests a shift of philosophy in Miles and one I don't agree with or enjoy watching to the same degree as before.
I'm like a trauma survivor now ready and expecting the offense to implode. Four years ago, I was so confident in the team and the players, but its a different product that's on the field than before.

You have to write in one sentence thoughts on this board or you will get tl;dr ("Too Lazy, Don't Read.") from these guys. That said, don't repost. Then you will get germans.

Maybe. But when problems persist, it stops becoming just a player issue.
Coaches are the CEO's of program. They recruit, train and empower personnel. If a problem persists, you have to stop just blaming the personnel after a while.
The head guy is paid a lot of money to be elite, and display an elite product. Some of you refuse to blame the head guy for anything.
Initial problems can be blamed on players. Patterns and problems that persist can be blamed on the staff.

Jax, and there is my issue. Most coaches coach because they love the game, they love the kids and they love to win. There are a lot of philosophies, rules, schemes, personalities, decision making, sometimes under more pressure than anyone could imagine... Plus more. But all of the above comes together and the outcome is what type of coach you are. But there are some basic fundamentals of coaching that is common sense, especially at this level and most high schools that are a must. These basic fundamentals help you sleep at night when you lose a game. For example, the next time you watch a football game it is a chess match between coordinators by shifting and motioning from the offensive side to blitzing and disguising coverages on defense just to outnumber their opponent.
That leads me to this....a coaches job is to put his players in the best possible position to be successful. There are a lot of different factors that play into this depending on philosophy so all of what a coach does is more irrational to question because it is his core values. That part of Miles Coaching style I will not question because its not right for another coach to do. What I question are the basic fundamentals of the game that Miles continues to refuse to change. It's inexcusable. There really is no reason for it and IF you decide to balance the defenders in the box, it's only gonna help. The other smaller issue with most but bigger with LSU bc of scheme is the FB takes you to football in the run game. And last but not least if you are gonna run the football and be a running team, for gods sake when u choose to pass the ball, include play action. It's basic fundamentals of the game that give defenses more difficulty.

I know a couple years ago when CLM went for it on the 4th dns. against Fla., he had confidence in the O line not too mention Jacob Hester telling him on the sidelines, " we got this!". Again, when Lee threw the pass in the end zone against Fla., TWICE and won the game. He didnt have that confidence last season and he dam sure dont now! I think thats the shift in philosophy..
