McMahon's response to report: 'I realize how important the transfer portal is now'

And he's just realizing this now??? What a joke. This says it all. More NIL money isn't going to fix shitty coaching and being oblivious. McMahon is in so far over his head.

Mascona is tasked with floating this bs last week giving numbers he can’t support but it puts a thought in fans minds. Then you get this report enforcing last weeks without any numbers so morons like you just lap it up, conflate the two and assume the dollar amount. Sorry you can’t spot this, you should probably grow up and move out of mommy’s basement.

If this was some government shite, the same posters eating it up would be calling it out for what it is. A smoke show to deflect and distract.

What an embarrassing day for LSU basketball (and we’ve had plenty the past 3 years)

The timing is either very precise or the group in the athletic department is clueless. Either are equally plausible.
It’s not coincidental the story mentions South Carolina as the other “low NIL budget” program (which in itself is ridiculous because it leads to the absurd conclusion that USC, who went 22-8 (13-5) last season, suddenly lost all NIL support in the wake of their best season in 7 years?). The implication being LSU and USC are at the bottom of the league solely because of that. But it puts MM and the AD in a corner heading into tomorrow because if LSU loses, at home, to a winless (conference play) USC team who purportedly has no NIL funding then it will be difficult to support an MM is only losing because of a lack of NIL support.

There is probably more than one way to read that. One is the simple statement of how important the portal is now as compared to just a few years ago. McMahon has gotten transfers in every year. Of course, that may not be true, either.
My hope is this is a sort of the powers that be removing any excuses as to why McMahon is not succeeding and telling him he has one more season to turn this around while simultaneously signaling to potential replacements that they are willing to spend money. But my inherent optimism may be fueling that hope. Probably setting myself up for more pain

That’s bull shite. He knows. McMahon is a lot of things but the dude is not dumb. Hell he had to use the transfer portal just to field a team his first year. All of this is a cover for the administration lack of support for the basketball team. Well they had to make a financial decision. Fire McMahon or invest in transfer portal.

Even if this bites them in the arse, do you really think they'd care?

I took it to mean that now that he has a bigger budget, he can really work the portal. Before that he couldn't.
Either way, I told everyone this was going to happen Saturday before the Oklahoma game, so I'm not surprised. And, I'll be rooting for him next year.
