If the arena is the motivation for this statement, then that is extremely short sighted. Invest the money into program that is competing at the top of league and in the tournament every year (kind of like things were from 2019-2022), and securing funds for the arena is an easier process.

EXACTLY. They are contractually obligated to pay LSU for however many years.

If they get their panties in a wad because we're replacing an EPIC FAILURE with a coach who makes the tournament every year they'll get over it.

If not, find another sponsor(s). LSU is a huge brand and would have ZERO PROBLEM doing so.

MM for all intents and purposes is a nice guy, I'm doing to delude myself into believing he's simply going to bat for someone he may have a personal relationship with

No sane individual can rationalize lastnight's OT win over a fellow shitty team as any kind of sign this dipshit is making progress. He's in his fourth season, the fact that you're celebrating such a meaningless W tells you all you need to know about his tenure here

This is the same group of people who threw fits after we didn't retain Corey Chest, a guy that can't see any significant minutes for the worst team in the SEC. Those same people years ago wanted Scott Drew to be our head coach...you know the guy that went 31-69(12-52) his first 4 years. Y'all wanted us to use Mulkey to get him.

If he's gone, he's gone. Just let it play out, Jesus Christ.

How much is chicken getting paid by fmolhs, every time I see Thomas's ad on here saying he trusts the system. Don't know how much I believe him though since he has been injured for a while.

You mean a guy who took over a historically bad program two months before the start of the season facing actual severe sanctions. A program that allowed every (then) current player to transfer out without the HC having access to a transfer portal to immediately replace them. A program that in Drew's first year wasn't allowed to play in the Big 12 tournament. A program that in the coach's 3rd season wasn't even allowed to play non-conference games. It might be kind of difficult to get good players to agree to play for you and play well when their season won't even begin until 2 months after every one else and would be limited to only 17 games. A program who lost several scholarships during those first 4 years.

There is ridiculous. Then there is trying to suggest the circumstances surrounding the Baylor program in Drew's first four seasons where analogous to McMahon's four seasons.

Perhaps with a new coach, and an improvement in the program, a corresponding improvement in the critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills of the LSU fanbase will occur as well. Right now those skills are about on par with McMahon's coaching ability.

You can say the men’s basketball program is a joke but LSU’s athletic department isn’t a joke. We have the best baseball, football and women’s basketball coach in the country.

Nobody cares (and I'm not being smug). No one cares that I won't watch if Wade is the coach.

Unless something drastic changes, my read on the situation is the people actually in charge have made the decision to move on after the season.

Exactly this is just one of probably many hail Mary’s to come from losers that want him to stay.

McMahan is not in year one. He is in year four. His SEC record is a complete disaster.

Anyone who thinks McMahan deserves another year after this four year abortion is either our SEC opponent’s fans hoping we stay losing or a complete moron.

So this guy wants to keep this losing coach cause we beat an Ole Miss team that was on a 9 game losing streak in two overtimes. Wow….WHAT A LOSER!

That's an interesting narrative, it's funny how we make excuses for some, but not for others. So, knowing that LSU has been a bottom NIL spending team UNTIL this year, that doesn't matter, but sanctions does? It's like people only want to understand the perspective that makes them right.

As long as we're only giving 5-8mil in NIL annually(which is lower-bottom of the SEC), AND you lose your 2 best players(arguably 2 years in a row), you could bring in Dan Hurley. It's not going to matter. Last year, it was reported that LSU spent 2.7mil in NIL. Bottom last in the SEC, the numbers followed.

So McMahon has, by no means, earned the right to coach at LSU next season. Let's be clear about that. However, if he does, the reason they will keep him around is because the admin feels like they haven't given him the resources, and they feel like he's had a run of bad luck. It won't be about money.
