Absolutely. Concerns voiced in the second half when we were down double digits aren’t being negative. it’s a legit concern when playing an opponent like that as a loss would be huge.
This was nothing more than a letdown game and they pulled it out which is great, because had they lost it wouldve been the difference between having to win 9-10 conference games or just 8 to make the tournament with a loss like that on the resume
i.e. 20-11 (8-10) would be enough to make the tourney but 19-12 (8-10) with a loss like that would be enough to leave you on the outside looking in

One more OOC game, Southern Miss, who has the 8th best NET and KenPom in our OOC schedule. Then we go to A&M to open the SEC schedule.
Right now, LSU is 11-1.

Here are our next 5 opponents. 3 Q1 games, 1 Q3, & 1 Q4 based on NET ranking coming into tonight.
Southern Miss - NET #179 - KenPom #193 - Q4
@Texas A&M - NET #64 - KenPom #48 - Q1
South Carolina - NET #108 - KenPom #91 - Q3
@Vanderbilt - NET #6 - KenPom #8 - Q1
Kentucky - NET #22 - KenPom #18 - Q1
The A&M game will tell us a lot about how accurate the NET/KenPom is. We should be better than A&M based on that. If we win that game, we should come out of those 5 no worse than 3-2 (14-3 overall).
If we can beat Kentucky in the PMAC, that will do a lot for our season going forward. The subsequent 5 games are the easiest stretch in terms of the strength of the teams we play, though 3 are away.
The eye test does worry me, but you know me and my tendency toward sometimes unfounded optimism.

I just checked KenPom and it looks like we dropped to 40. I think we had broken the top 25 before the Tech loss.

Problem for us is there are 10 teams who are currently better than us and we seem to be regressing at the wrong time. We’ll need a repeat of 23-24 minus the dropped games to weak opponents and a little luck to get in.

What I'm going to say about TPK is he's one of the ones that comes out the woodwork. He's never been Brady, TJ, CJJ, Wade. I don't suffer fools, but I call them out.

Thanks for the call out. I gave props after the SMU win. However trailing at halftime to Prairie View should ring major alarms.
And yes, the day McMahon is fired will be a great day for this program. It’s glaringly obvious (well to most of us anyway) that he is in well over his head here. A 14-40 SEC record is dismal no matter how you look at it.

On that, we agree, but he has also not had very talented depth. This year is better than he has had. I think he was just supposed ot be a stabilizing hire. This should be the only prove it year he gets with a better level of talent. If he does not make the NCAAT he should be gone. To get there he needs to probably be .500 in the SEC(9-9) or maybe just under (8-10), depending on whether the SEC looks like a top 2 or 3 conference again and which wins LSU has.
FTR, I fully expected this to be his last year coming into the year, the team feels different enough that I have a bit of hope. I am not yet fully hopeful that McMahon can pull it off, but I will be pulling for him to prove us all wrong because I would love nothing better than a stellar LSU basketball season.
