The non-conf schedule wasn’t awful. LSU just did nothing against it
This is actually a good point. If you look at our NET vs similar teams, it appears where we fall short is the quad 2 record. Seemingly more so than our quad 4 loss. We are 1-5 in quad 2 which is worse than our quad 1 record.

You aren’t rationale. Our OOC schedule was fine. Dayton, North Texas, Wake, K-St, UT were all very quality opponents.
I agree they were very good opponents. Too good imo, being 8-5 going into conference play is not good for the NET.
It’s not necessarily about the level of competition. We faced strong OOC competition and I think we’re a much better team than our record/NET indicates. But 5 losses OOC is tough to overcome with a .500 SEC record.
It’s more so about scheduling the RIGHT teams in winnable games to boost your analytics

Wade was a master of scheduling very winnable mid-major to low major games who would end up being top 125 NET teams.
Honestly outside of the SEC winning sweet 16 team it was the single best thing he did. It was why we were always a lock for the tourney even though outside of 2018-19 we averaged like 10-8 in conference

Seven different players hit a 3 in this game including 3 of our bigs. When LSU is hitting 3's they can play with anyone. Ward looked like he tweaked that hip again in the first half but did hit a 3 in second half but wasn't near as consistent. Win out and pull off a few in the SECT and anything can happen but this team will be a matchup nightmare for a lot of teams in the NIT. Especially if Cook can come back with the right attitude.

If MM can get a couple of board wipers in the portal or get that kind of production from Chest and Collins then Hannibal can be replaced. Now his effort and want are the characteristics that someone else will need to bring. He is a smaller version of Tasmin Mitchell.

I think our team is better with a healthy cook with his head screwed on properly.
But.. do you think this is one of those instances where maybe it’s better he doesn’t come back? Like the team has found an identity without him? That he would disrupt chemistry?
Personally I don’t know… I think it was a tough pill for Cook to swallow to not be the hero anymore (especially after many heralded him as such for transferring back)

First win at Vandy since 2016. Cannot be said enough how difficult it is to shoot well in that gym. We had 7 different players hit a 3 and we took on two runs by Vandy and responded. ARK will be a very difficult game on the road but if they win that game and Mizzou at home there aren't many teams that would want to face this LSU team in the SECT . Would be great to have a humbled Cook available for the late season run.

Bench scored 34 pts.
Won the rebound battle. Won the TO battle. Won the assist battle.

I wonder what seed we will get in the SECT.
I’m excited. Hopefully we will end up around 6 or 7.
ETA: Looks like best we can do is 7, but we need to keep winning and jump Mississippi State.

I am mixed on the return of Cook but his depth would surely help Hannibal and the team in a tournament setting IF he has the right attitude. Would make him a better player and he would have the starting PG spot come next year. Stupid for him not to do it.

Very true. Aside from the one really good year, he did nothing special. His expertise at scheduling definitely made us look better on paper than we probably were

Speaking of Shaq. He showed up at the WBB game today and sat right in front of me
