I’m no worries about Smith, Roy or Guillory. I think When you sell the in state kids on playing for the jn state teams can survive the transistor better.

BJ if he doesn’t like the New staff could be a loss.

I also Worry about Ricks, just because he’ll be a hot commodity, but LSU also has a great DB reputation and we’ll likely keep his position coach.

I don't think Ricks would leave. Corey likely stays and he's also the recruiting coordinator so he would help keep the recruiting intact. Some players may transfer, but right now I doubt there are many happy with how things are.

Not so sure how scared he is to make a mistake, since he back handed a football into the wild blue yonder and up for grabs to anyone. Hopefully he settles down and can play like he did in his 2 starts last year.

Ummm honestly based on that performance it seems that Nuss needs some receivers that know how to catch a football.

Poor dude got absolutely 0 help from his receivers and O-line.

Nuss's first couple of long passes were right on the money, just needed a little more air under them so the DB couldn't knock them down. His later pass was lofted more, which shows he is capable of learning and making adjustments

With our offense and our athletes against the competition we played how is this even possible?

Absolutely, same OL and WRs Max has to play with.

I don't think anyone is saying Nuss couldn't be a good player, sure. Not sure really saw anything to show that at this point. How about he get 5-10 first downs under his belt.

He showed some things, but its pretty limited at this point. See how he does this week.

(of course, someone will say I said he is shite)

As far as Max, if Nuss is taking a lot of the snaps by the end of the year, I suspect transferring as most likely. He is capable of being a starter somewhere.

Maybe the mustangs will block long enough for his to be able to throw a pass downfield. LSU obviously can't do it.
Nuss has to sprint outside the box...something Max just can't do..and he threw darts downfield...and got zero help from his 2nd and 3rd string receivers. Put him with Bech and Boutte and I think we may find some excitement.
I was all for Max getting the start until I have seen our OLine play and Max's stationary position on every play in a collapsing pocket. Now I think our only real chance to be a better than 500 team is for Nuss to be Manziell out there.

Did any of you posters happen to notice that none of the receivers he threw to downfield were actually open? Maybe, a pass to someone more open would have been more effective and, maybe even, impressive to a lot of other folks on this board.

I'm not making fun of him. It's clear he has a strong, quick arm and that he is capable of moving at a fast pace. I believe he will be a very good QB. But, we'd be punting the ball a whole lot in a short period of time if that's what is in store for now.

This is a major problem if LSU can’t stretch the field.

Max Johnson = Alex Smith
Nuss = Mahomes

Not a literal comparison, more of a stylistic one.

I hate to break it to you, but we are about to have a lot of decommitments after O is shitcanned. Has to be done. Can't worry about a single class when you have problems like this.

Max Johnson also has a 60% completion rate. Nuss is at 30%.

His 30% is not all his fault. How many drops/balls that receivers should have caught but didn’t did he have?

With our inability to run the ball, UCLA dropped back most of the game, leaving Max just underneath as options. There was never a threat from the LSU run, so UCLA was in prevent the entire second half.

From what I saw on Saturday, Nuss is a... turnover machine waiting to happen

He did throw into triple coverage. But it was exciting when he started slinging it fearlessly.

Not sure I understand that reasoning. He avoids the rush very well. Keeps every play alive, and looks downfield for the open receiver. All his passes were on the money even though some were I’ll advised b/c receivers were blanketed. Fun to watch! Offense should score a lot more points w him behind center IMHO. Let it happen.
