I think it's mostly due to lack of booster support to be honest.
You had PLENTY of booster support in Dale's heyday (unless you are one of those naive souls who believe players weren't being paid until Wade came to LSU). Jones (with Dale's help) went back to the same revenue streams during his tenure. Wade was able to come in and immediately make the right contacts to get booster support (sorry to ruin the fantasy, but he wasn't solely paying for the players out his, or his wife's own pocket). Wade then went to McNeese and immediately started getting booster money in LC to build his program there.
The point is that there are revenue streams to tap. But you have to have a HC that actively courts them and makes it exciting for booster to donate. McMahon doesn't like getting involved in that necessary aspect of program building. Likely in large part because he never had to do it before coming to LSU. He had never coached at a power conf. program where that was a crucial aspect of the job for decades. Trent Johnson didn't like that aspect of the job when he was at LSU either. I think it's no coincidence that is record was awful after his one season with Brady's holdovers.
Give the boosters/donors something to be excited about and they will, in turn, give you money. Unfortunately, LSU basketball is mired in a decade's low state of apathy right now

Why don’t you just wait until the season starts?
Anyone who says our team isn’t as good as last year have to be the dumbest person and just a blind hater of McMahon
Miller looks like a freak, Reed is back, we got an extremely good/high level PG, picked up Sutton who will be a good player. This team will get to the tournament

Not outside the realm of possibility that the replacement Woody has targeted wouldn't be available until this year, due to the other school's buyout or some other contractual/financial reason.
I think you are looking at this from the opposite perspective. There’s no way in hell Woodward would have created an opening at LSU while Wade was at McNeese. He would never have put himself on a position to have that kind of public pressure to rehire Wade, no matter how unrealistic that may have been.

This roster isn’t any better than last year ( maybe worse )
Based on what?

Do you see the record in the subject line? If you’re a confident coach, you’ll see three seasons as plenty of time to turn it around in today’s day and age.
Bruce Pearl went 32-54 his first 3 seasons with Auburn. When you get bottom of the barrel NIL allotment(up until this season), you’re gonna get some piss poor results. No excuses after this season though.

Pearl already had a history of winning in the SEC.

Just what this board needed. Another thread about a coach that needs to be fired.

The curley halman of LSU basketball. Guy has taken us to rock bottom.

Yeah ok, then after this coming year is over you will give another excuse, lol. You will say “judge McMahon after his 5th year.”

We might surprise some folks and finish 14th.

He meant Wood “tard”. You’re an absolute imbecile TPK.

Can't even believe he got an NIL boost. Imagine any of us sucking at our jobs and saying, "well it's cause you haven't paid me enough." Once you give.me.more.money; I'll do better.

McMahon is not a good coach

No, I’ve said many times already if he can’t get it done this season he needs to go. We have spent money this season, I want to say reportedly we were in the top 10 in NIL spending. Every year we have been bottom 3 if I’m not mistaken. If he can’t get these guys to the tournament, you won’t hear anything else from me.
