The Advocate article in 2022-
North Carolina (2003-04) - defensive assistant.
Gardner Webb (2005) - defensive line coach.
Buffalo (2006-07) - defensive backs coach, recruiting coordinator.
Carolina Panthers (2008) - assistant special teams coach.
St. Louis Rams (2009-11) - defensive quality control coach.
Pittsburgh (2012) - secondary coach.
Pittsburgh (2013-14) - defensive coordinator.
FIU (2015) - defensive coordinator, linebackers coach.
Kentucky (2016) - inside linebackers coach, special teams coordinator.
Kentucky (2017-18) - defensive coordinator, inside linebackers coach.
Kansas City Chiefs (2019-21) - linebackers coach.
LSU (2022) - defensive coordinator.
Matt House’s career path to LSU
House took advantage of his first stint as a defensive coordinator, helping develop NFL star defensive lineman Aaron Donald during his time at Pittsburgh.
House was promoted to defensive coordinator ahead of the 2017 season, leading a resurgence on that side of the ball. In 2018, House’s UK defense finished sixth in the nation with 16.8 points allowed per game. The Wildcats finished 10-3, beating Penn State in the Citrus Bowl.
That success put House in position to earn a job on Andy Reid’s staff with the Kansas City Chiefs as linebackers coach. He earned a Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs after the 2019 season.
House reportedly turned down job offers from Tennessee and Auburn during his time with the Chiefs, ultimately agreeing to take over the LSU defense once the 2021 campaign comes to a close.
Aside from the setback when Chryst didn’t take House with him to Wisconsin, his career as a defensive assistant has been on an upward trajectory since first starting as a graduate assistant at Michigan State.
Two things of note in Matt House's bio, his former coach Chryst decided not to bring House with him to Wisconsin. And a majority of House's stints at each location have been for just two years or less.

Whether you’re ok or not, House might be staying.

I don't know what happened to this guy where he suddenly forgot how to field a respectable defense but he sucked so hard in 2023 he should have been fired weeks ago.

Looks like he like to switch things up every 1-3 years

It is interesting. Dude didn’t forget how to call defense
Could LSU’s personal have been so bad that House couldn’t overcome their shortcomings?

Crazy thing is, Matt House has coached at all of the defensive positions. Even special teams. Maybe he can be relocated to special teams coach at LSU if he doesn’t want to move on.

This might have been the other way around.

As a DC he’s less than .500 winning

Yeah he’s got a resume. Good for him. He shat the bed this year. The lack of adjustments, the lack of improvement by players is all very damning. And there is zero reason to think it will be better next year. We lose several guys who were our best and most consistent performers. DL, CB and safety will also be question marks. LB too since they don’t always play the best player there.
If we could point to some improvement even with the bowl I would at least think he has the ability do that. But there was none. The Wisconsin second string offense sliced through us for most of the game.

What happened at Pitt as DC. Did they have a HC replacement which is why he was DC for only 2 yrs?
DC at Kentucky. Why leave there?
If you are such a great DC at UK with a very good Defense, then why not get more money by going to another school as DC?
Answer: UK defense success is due to Mark Stoops, not House. Stoops has been DB coach and DC in the past. The success at defense is because of Stoops.
Is a LB coach in the NFL an upgrade in salary and prestige?
If so, then why come back to the SEC as a DC?
If the LB job in the NFL is the better gig than a DC in college, why come back to be DC in college?
It is also concerning that he is short tenure at every job.

That's what bothers me... based on experience/resume/history I was way more worried about Denbrock than House.
- Roster was depleted on both sides of the ball, so both DC & OC were going to have to rebuild talent level.
- Both coordinators were going to have to evaluate talent expertly and use the portal to get anything done in 3 years. I though House had a huge edge here. Huge.
- After hitting the portal both coordinators had a year, if they evaluated correctly, to get them developed to an SEC level. Again, with Houses experience in the NFL and their development programs built around maximizing skills and efficiency I thought there were no worries with House and some worries with Denbrock having seen a "less variety" of methods.
Offense even broke some 2019 records (which we thought we'd never ever see) and a Heisman trophy winner with Denbrock after 1 year utilizing the portal for RB largely and the QB.
Defense regressed after 1 year, terrible portal, all-SEC players transferring, cost us a shot at a playoff birth and as it stands today portal intakes are ugly and defensive recruiting is about average.
I interpret this, for House, as in any other job "did not meet expectations". In real world terms, reading between the lines, that screams laziness.

I know people with doctorates who are dumb as hell. A resume means you've done things, it doesn't mean you've done them well.

And no one knows how much influence Kelly is putting into the scheme. Maybe the second half of A&M was House finally getting to be aggressive.

Exactly. None of us know what happened on the sidelines that dictated how LSU would defend teams.

Nobody wanted him usually after the first year or two.
