Marcel Brooks return would be icing on the cake

We need the return of the Delpit/Stevens role of 2019. But the D can’t do it without linebackers. There was so many situations where Marcel would have came up big this past season. He pressures the offense whether he makes the tackle or not..his effort is unmatched. Hopefully he’s waiting on a D coordinator announcement to make a decision!!

Marcel and a LB transfer or someone to emerge on our current roster, and we’re back in the Playoff convo no doubt.

I doubt this happens. The staff isn’t going to consider it unless he wouldn’t count against the 25.

I'm not completely against this. I liked when he was able to get in (minus the few personal fouls he had) during the championship run. I didn't really understand why he left but maybe it was a personal problem with Bo. He pretty much seems to rub most people the wrong way. If so, I suggest we be a little understanding.

Only had 2 tackles on the season with very little playing time.

I heard he just rode the bench. Surprised he didn’t take the next step that usually happens with sophomores

I don’t believe he counts towards the 25 limit. They changed a rule a few years back to where once you are counted in a class for a school, if you left and returned, you don’t count as a new recruit there.

Not sure if that is in general or just if you drop down to JUCO.

I don’t understand the downvotes here.
This is 100% truth. Pass rush was strong. Just too simple schematically... the pass rush was lazy in design IMO.
But in the OP defense, Marcel Brooks is not necessarily a generational talent or anything like that, but certainly a very versatile player. That usually inspires coaches to be more creative with play design.
Marcus Freeman would certainly utilize his talent much like Aranda was showing he had planned to do.

Brooks is a great talent. He contributed a lot to the defensive improvements in the last half of 19. However, his conundrum seems to be that he does not want to play the position his body is suited for. At 205, he is better suited to play a LB or box safety spot. In Aranda's 3-4 schemes he used personnel like Brooks a lot on the edge. Maybe a new DC has a good spot for him but him coming back would be great as long as he is willing to slide into the best fit for him and the scheme.

Weird as he was listed #3 on depth chart and had a couple of tackles. Come back to LSU and join Ojulari and Webb and make QB's scared of you guys flying in

Marcel Brooks is not returning to LSU. That ship has sailed.
