SI.com has all the polls up and some prelim BCS rankings with Georgia ahead of Florida...... LINK Would that put Georgia in the Sugar? Seems unlikely to actually happen but... still...

That would put UGA in Sugar, and UF to Cap One. Rest would probably stay the same.

I don't think there's any interest from either the big 12 or A&M for a matchup there. It seems like they'er trying to distance themselves from that conference, still, which I understand. They've gotta assimilate into the SEC right now.

its like when you and your woman break up. you dont go to the same places yall used to hang out hangs out because you dont want to see her with some other guy.

I pray this is true! Georgia should be in Cap One, and then LSU being next in the pecking order (having beaten a&m and SC and being ranked higher) should get Cotton.

It's shitty for A&M

Politics was always going to be a part of this since A&M left for the SEC. This is from the Dallas Morning News.

quote:

Even if Texas heads to Arlington, don’t expect to see Texas A&M as the opponent. The Capital One Bowl remains the Aggies’ likely destination. Before the game, Cotton Bowl chairman Tommy Bain candidly addressed the possibility of a Texas A&M-Texas meeting. Asked if people on both sides might have wanted to avoid such an emotionally charged game, Bain responded: “I think the political truth is there’s just a lot of people that don’t want that matchup.” Bain said he didn’t necessarily want the media spending the week before the bowl focusing on the past. “We’d be hesitant to put that matchup together,” Bain said. “But if that’s the matchup, that’s the matchup. It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.” Texas would be the “strongest possibility” for the game, given the Big 12 results earlier Saturday, Bain said. TCU, which had beaten Texas on Thanksgiving, lost to Oklahoma to finish 7-5. And Oklahoma State fell at Baylor. “The most compelling team is the University of Texas … just for fandom and television,” Bain said. LSU would the “favorite in the clubhouse” as the SEC representative and already has 20,000 requests for bowl tickets, Bain said.

Sure, if NIU is ranked 16 or higher, they get an auto bid to the BCS. That leaves one less at large, and OU will get left out over Oregon.

aTm would only be screwing their fans if they said no to Cotton. 10,000 fans go to ATL. they'd bring 50 grand to Dallas.

A&M doesn't want to go to Dallas to play any former big 12 school. It's too soon. Plus they have been there and done that (been to Cotton Bowl a million times) They want something new. Plus Texas wants no part of them anyway, and is pushing behind the scenes. Bottom line, no A&M vs former conference member.

So SEC has 3 of 4 top BCS rankings but still can only put 2 schools in BCS.

Stupid rule

Actually, I think Boise St. is also a possiblity to be BCS #16, too.

Either way, it would knock Oklahoma down to Cotton.

If Kent St. had won, it was a certainty. Now, it comes down to votes and the math that results from those votes, but I haven't seen or heard much lobbying to ensure Oklahoma a spot.

So, I guess we'll see. It's probably the only drama they have left for the show tonight.
