He's right you know. Fontenot was serving up batting practice yesterday

Sounds like Fontenot took responsibility IMO
At least someone did

If CPM was going to throw a name out there, I would have thrown out the individual who is responsible for the position that gave up over 20 hits

He isnt even right though. Thats the best part about it

Fontenot gave up 4 runs. Ole Miss scored 15 runs on the other pitchers.

Are you faulting CPM for not putting Hess in the game yesterday?

Are you not faulting Mainieri for putting the ball in Fontenot’s hand when he has been VERY shaky his last few outings?

It’s the head coaches job to know his players. He isn’t 100% responsible for the performance of an individual, but he has some responsibility.

Who should he have pitched in that spot then?

I’m convinced Russian thinks CPM reads this board and thinks he will give him first dibs on the buffet at the coaches meetings

Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

I asked Mainieri if he read TigerDroppings.

He said, "What's that?"

I'm pretty sure he doesn't read this board, silly girl.

I’m not going to speculate. I’m just saying it’s silly for a head coach to trash his closer, who has been struggling, in a game that we left a bunch of players stranded and gave up almost 20 runs.

After watching fontenot’s last 5 performances are you really surprised that happened?

there were many reasons we gave up 15 in regulation....

however one play stood out for me the whole game and it was josh rounding 3rd in the wth was it? and cain and josh not on same page, wad held up when he should have scored easily and he didnt....ball was kicked around in right field on that ground ball ...josh ended up not scoring....game would have been over 16 to 15 in lsu's favor in bottom of 9th...

Plenty of coaches call out their players. It's a motivational tool. Some players respond really well to it, some don't.

Your team scores 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th, at home, to force extras. Then the new pitcher comes in, with all the emotion and adrenaline from the last inning, and totally craps the bed.

I feel sorry for the player. But he did crap the bed.

This is so much horse shite. I have coached at the college level. To this day, one of my favorite things is to go around and watch practices in all sports. I love the "Art of Coaching". And it's pretty clear when you are in the presence of a good coach and when you are not. But make no mistake, it very much is an ART.

The way PM called him out, I would never ever allow my athlete to play for him. Yes, there are different ways of "motivating" players or "calling them out" when they need it. There is an ART to that as well. What you heard from PM is not something that should be said in that way unless the player absolutely deserves it, and if he did deserve to be talked to like that, he shouldn't have never been put in the game.

Pawful is a joke....

Fontenot was able to get himself out of jams before
In a perfect world, if I were a coach I would have had another person in the pen so that they could go in if things went bad quickly

Hess went to the pen on his own, he had no chance at going in yesterday

The only other available pitchers were Gunter, Costello & Moffit
I’m not sure that Moffit was available, I thought he was healthy but I honestly don’t know
I’m also not sure why Costello didn’t go in, maybe he did & I forgot

We also have to have an arm available Tuesday, he may have been saving Costello or Moffit for then

Point is we really didn’t have anyone else available & Fontenot, while not exactly great, had been able to work his way out of jams before

Paul didn't even bring up Fontenot. The media brought up his name twice. He just answered a question and at the tail end, summed up the entire game and interview with, "it cost us the game."

Paul has called out players in the past. He wasn't calling out Fontenot in this instance.

Great coaches don't say crap like that. He talked too much, so everyone would know that he did everything strategically right but then a player let him down and lost the game. That's BS. I'm surprised recruits don't start seeing CPM for what he is.

What's an emotional dickhead have to do with fans having emotions like a female. There are grown arse men playing out there. I'm sure they had no problem with what their coach said but for some reason you do

Don’t confuse tough love for douchebaggery. OM was up 10-1 in the 5th. Ten. fricking. Runs. Not to mention a couple key errors and a poorly played bunt. Mainieri sounds like a baby when he does shite like this.
