Quotes about Fontenot start at the 4:10 mark. He goes in raw for a while on Fontenot

LINK

Look, I think too much is made about CPM and throwing players under the bus, but I just dont understand his need to be so negative in such a defeated way. This isnt a speech trying to fire a guy up IMHO. Listen to how damn negative and pissy and moaney he sounds while blaming Fontenot.

I like how he doesnt mention Fontenot got two hits that would have been routine outs without the defensive shifts called by the coaching staff

Blaming your players in public is the weakest thing a coach can do, shameful.

He did cost us the game, but he’s not the only one.

Honestly I’m still more upset at the bunt didn’t Marceaux go after

He is who he is. He’s lost his edge,it’s time for him to accept that and step down. He’s had a great career but it’s time.

Players that played a huge part in costing us the game

Fontenot
about 3 other pitchers
Duplantis
Smith
Mainieri and his shits
Cain and his coaching of base running

However he offered up the easiest pound of flesh to make his own emotions feel better after a tough loss

I'm a sabermetrics guy, I completely understand shifting.

But in the majors, you have a pretty good certainty that the pitcher is going to hit the spot that the pitch is called for giving you a much better idea of where to put the fielders.

In college baseball, you don't have nearly the book on a player that you do in the pros. You don't have the consistency on the mound. And you don't have fielders that have already mastered the position they play allowing them to adjust to making plays from angles they aren't accustomed to. And you don't have the practice time available to get them accustomed to it.

TL;DR - Re: shifting: Majors good, college bad

If this was a one time screw up by Fontenot then I’d have a big problem with CPMs comments.

But come on he’s been terrible his last 4 outings. Either get your shite together or get benched. We have zero chance of making any kind of postseason noise if we can’t close games out

We allowed 15 runs during the first 9 innings. We didn’t deserve to win. Nobody cost us the game. What a loser tossing the blame of a terrible game on one player

That's what $1.125 million a year gets you, a guy who tosses his players to the wolves.

How many runs did we leave at 3rd in that game? I’m talking about runs that could have scored, he held at 3rd with 1 out and then we stranded the runner. Had to be at least 3.

He did cost us the game. Nothing wrong with a little "tough love" in the politically correct world. Call a spade a spade.

I remember this is when CLM lost a lot of his support when he started reaching for areas to blame besides his strategy.

Mainieri really is a POS when it comes to calling out players. Been like that his entire time here. Cain made a boneheaded call at 3rd that cost a run and then he left Fontenot out there in the 10th when the first two hitters got on. Coaches fricked up too but he won’t ever call himself out.

I dont care if this was his 20th blown game in a row

You are the fricking coach that keeps bringing him out there. Stop being a weeping pussy in front of the camera because you are hurt after a loss and this helps you feel better personally by shifting blame

Ole Miss scored 15 runs against pitchers not named Fontenot

Mainieri's team not named Fontenot gave up 15 freaking runs
