Wow, seeing it on paper is something.

Wonder how much guys like fontenot and noot and woods get involved.
Not a good sign for noot that he isnt on the list of guys to get stretched out

Are you saying that every SEC team has our pitching talent and more or just that everyone has guys that throw in the high 90s? If it’s the latter I still wouldn’t agree, but whatever. If you’re saying the former you are just wrong and I’m not sure if there is another school in the country who can say they have a better pitching staff.

It's not "cool" to throw hard, its preeminent to a pitcher's success.

You could've asked the mongoloids on here to run a simple linear regression between velo & any pitching success metric, but the ones you're fighting with definitely aren't bright enough to even know what that means.

Greg Maddux had the best change up of all time, one of the best two seamers of all time, best command of all time, and a massive zone.

I am so tired of the Greg Maddux comments lol. It's like saying "stop trying to hit home runs and striking out! Tony Gwynn barely struck out!"

It's the classic 50 year old dad comment.

ETA: The game has changed so much in the last 5 years. Zac Cowan is your classic Sunday SEC starter who's known for his command, placement, and lower velocity. He throws 94.

For part of his career he had above average velocity as well.

People who think he simply a soft tosser have bought into a false narrative.

(4) LHPs? That’s it? Seems low from what I recall CJJ wanting.

Tweet from new strength coach regarding pre-outing lifts

Admittedly, this is not my area of expertise - but I wonder if this is contributing to the uptick in velocity. In the tweet he says that Cowan's velocity was not up, but I wonder if the pregame lifts are helping across the board.

Regardless, seems like Jay found something special in Martin.

the amount of people on this board who can not fathom how important velocity is and want to scream about nobody cares how hard you throw ball four...is mindblowing

for all the idiots screaming about throwing strikes...stfu and go look at BAA when it comes to velocity please

and for the love of god educate yourself and if one of you stupid fricks brings up greg maddox....frick you. there has only been one of them and umps arent calling strikes 6" off the plate anymore, he threw up to 96 with the cubs and not every one is capable of 30" of run, if there were more people capable of that....there would be another maddox. there hasnt been and there wont be. stfu

martin is one of the best S&C coaches in the country. Velo is up with this team because he is correcting the BS that was going on before. If you cant tell....i think the absolute world of Chris.

perfect example is the amount of weight and strength the staff gained in the first off season meso cycle alone. Guidry up 11 lbs in 12 weeks, others up 7-8.

what he has done is nothing short of amazing and yea the pre lift routines to excite the CNS is something he does.

yep and he always got calls 6" off the plate. aint happening anymore. plus he will be the first to tell you....he threw 96 coming out of HS and its the only reason he was able to get to the league

I hate how everyone acts like its so easy to be a Greg Maddox.

he is actually correct, you are the one that sounds like an idiot living in the past.

you have zero clue wtf you are talking about just as every person that brings up maddox doesnt. Bringing up Maddox 100% loses you the argument and shows how you clearly have zero clue wtf you are talking about.

if you cant see that..i dunno what to tell you.

Oh nice, generational talent as an example….

Also Maddox threw 91-93 when he got to the bigs which was above average

Almost every team in the SEC has that and more. It’s about being able to command it and stay at that velocity for 6-7 innings.

I wouldn’t say almost every team, but 95 isn’t as uncommon as it used to be for sure.

Last year I watched a Sunday game with Northwestern (Chicago one) and La Tech and Northwestern had a reliever who hit 100. You’ll see some crazy velo now, but it’s still about getting it honed in and having some offspeed to throw them off.
