SEC is not going to vote to go to a 9-game SEC schedule since Disney/ABC/ESPN will NOT pay us extra for that. And ESPN cannot make the SEC schools go to a 9-game schedule. Each school gets a vote on that.

Personally, I hate going to 9 SEC games. That means any given year some SEC teams have more home conference games than others (5 vs 4). LSU played its three most significant SEC games this year on the road and lost 2 of them. It is harder to win on the road in the SEC than at home.

Uh. No.
I spent my high school and college days living in OK. Weather is fine. Not much different than Dallas area.

I agree with this but the 7+1 model is way worse if that’s what happens.

Should be Arkansas

An ugly trophy does not mean the series is a rivalry. Arkansas is not a rival.

I’d take a drive up to Norman to see my tigers play every other year.

Do we want a permanent opponent that's likely to be a tough game? Georgia doesn't, Bama didn't until recently.

My brother in law is an OU grad and he's beyond hyped about making his first trip to Tiger Stadium next year.

Right now the SEC is on a one-off 2024 kick-the-can down the road model. 2025 isn’t already set with 1 opponent staying the same and the other 7 rotating. It isn’t set at all. I suspect they will keep taking it year-by-year until they get the TV contract agreement to win the votes for a 3-6 model.

You trying to kill cfb clucker? Rivalries are important & why schools like OU/UT, USC/UCLA stick together during realignment.

No, we can rotate between OU, Arkansas and Mizzou.

I would love it

If they really do a 1+7 model then I don't see how LSU/OU becomes an annual game. Red River Shootout will always trump that.

But I also don't see a reason to think they'll actually do that... it's not like they ever got around to creating a reasonable rotation during the 14-team era

It seems like the open secret is that the SEC wants to go to nine games, but it won't do so until it can renegotiate with ESPN. So I wouldn't be surprised if we get some weird transition schedule where they try to keep the 'big' rivalry games and other regular marquee matchups (ex LSU/Alabama) intact, and then fill it out with other good games for TV. Which might point to LSU/OU?

I'm just happy that I might actually be able to go to the game next year after seeing family for Thanksgiving

Nah. That game has lost its luster in the last few years, especially since Petrino popped wheelies with that co-ed

Now they haven't even played a game yet that weekend and already talkin rivalry game. Manufactured rivalry =no good

According to a 9-5 SEC vote, the SEC is on a 1-7 rotation scheduling model. Texas A&M is our ONLY permanent opponent as of now. You'll need at least 9 schools to vote to change it to a 9-games, 3-6 model with three perms. I just do not think Sankey will get 9 votes for that even if Texass and OU vote for that.

Now, if Disney will pay us enough to get that 9th game, Sankey MIGHT get 9 votes.
