So you think it isn't fair to say a guy with zero coaching experience above HS, not even an analyst job, isn't underqualified? Whether he will be good or not is not the same as being qualified.

FTR, I do not have an issue with the hire, I am not particularly excited about it either. We will have to see a product on the field to assess how this will turn out. I think it may work out well, he was very good at Ruston but that is still high school. Kevin Faulk put together some good offenses at Carencro then came to LSU in a player development role then a running backs coach and he didn't exactly shine (though I think he gets more grief here than he deserved).

I know we wanted this to be a home run hire, but it isn't. I would say it is an adequate hire until more result-driven data is available.

I guarantee your ducking arse that if LSU gives up 450+ yards on average that ducking clowns like you will be leading the way to call for his job. This hire is about consistency, recruiting, and good losses. Similar to coach CMM, you have to give him time.

Kyle looks like a young Cholly Mac in that Ruston photo.

I mean how hard can coaching DL be?

Anything is hard when you’re going up against the best in the world. I love Kyle Williams, he’s one of my favorite players ever, he seems like an incredible person and he was a true professional in the league, I met him once when I was younger and he was super nice, but Steeples had a lot of those qualities too and he failed against SEC caliber coaches. This is a lazy bullshite hire by Kelly IMO, his job isn’t to be a politician and appease the fans by hiring Tiger greats to buy himself time, he’s supposed to be doing everything at the highest level and this is not high level on paper.

Sure he’s an LSU guy but the last high school coach we hired did not work out so well, did it?

National championship-contending programs don’t hire high school coaches for position coaches. The move smacks of desperation. Not a good look for Brian Kelly in what is not a make-or-break season, but still a crucial season.

Feels like a pretty big step up but he was probably overqualified to be a high school coach in the first place. I like their hire.

We will be technically sound. I just hope he can recruit.

Will we though? Just because he was, doesn’t necessarily translate to coaching that way.

Williams was an undersized defensive tackle who had 13 years in the league. I am sure he can teach others how to play the position at a high level, considering he made it 13 years.
Quasi Saban coaching tree can not be overlooked. He was on some great defensive units at LSU at the pleasure of the GOAT college coach.

I totally agree with this. I think he was a fantastic player at LSU and for the bills. But I just think LSU could have got a coach with more experience, this seems like a another BK mistake.

Welcome home Kyle.

Start off by having video sessions of your films, at LSU, and for the Bills. The tutorial of hustle, angles, strength from weight room work, and heart will work.

Probably stabilizes the position group too after the revolving door. I’m sure that mattered to Kelly.

As to the stability aspect, what happens when Kelly is gone after 2 years?

It looks like Peoples is the DL coach and KW will work under him with the DL. That’s exactly what it looks like.
