That’s not a great sign for us going into SEC play. No other way to spin it.

There were two yesterday and at least four last weekend that would’ve been out under normal conditions or normal size parks like Alex Box Stadium. LSU could easily have 14 home runs or so.
What matters is all the other metrics. Explain why they are eighth in OPS with them last in home runs. Do I really give a crap how they score runs? Nope. Do I give a crap on how they get on base? Nope.
The fact is they scored 11 runs on 17 hits. They played great defense. And there’s pitching outside of one inning or so was really good.

That’s great. I was just correcting as he stated cooler temps were part of the reason we’ve didn’t hit more home runs yesterday. I’m in Dallas and I was sweating my arse off yesterday.

LSU just isn’t going to have to hit a ton of home runs this year, there’s no need to come of with excuses or reasons as to why. Other teams have had to play in the wind, cooler temps, and MLB parks as well.

Wonder what the LOB # is across the SEC and if we’re at the bottom of the league in that stat as well. The only thing that concerns me about the HRs is if we’re leaving way too many on base and hence too many runs off the board not driving them in.

Looking at just Tennessee and LSU, who lead and are at the bottom of the conference in HRs:

Through 11 games were at 112 LOB so 10.2 LOB/game

Through 10, Tennessee is at 85 LOB so only 8.5 LOB/game

I like that we seem to be more balanced and don’t need to rely on the hr. I’d like us to get back to the 23 mentality of digging in the box up on the plate and not moving other than maybe jones and Dickinson

All those 2 out hits in the seventh yesterday was pretty great n to see.

We just had 17 hits and scored 10 runs last night without a HR or 3B. Ask any baseball coach and they’d take that over. 10 runs on 11 hits and having to rely on the long ball to get those runs

Yes, this team playing exactly as it is right now, would be a heavy favorite in my opinion to take it all in Omaha.

Screw the home run in that stadium with a little bit of unfavorable wind.

That plus the wind has been blowing in almost every game at the box.

The ball doesn’t travel for shite in cold humid games in Feb at the box especially with wind blowing in.

Aren't games determined by the amount of runs you get? Not home runs?

Yeah, it's not fair that the other teams aren't dealing with that.

The offensive is so less reliant on the long ball vs 2024 and I love it.

Home runs will come when the weather warms up.

Pretty trash take. We haven't really played in ideal parks, or weather conditions to produce big home run numbers.

That being said, this team isn't one that will lead the SEC in HRs, but we do plenty of other stuff well that it's not necessary. Our HR numbers will start going up on March, and they will continue to be steady for the rest of the year.

Hell, I’ll take elite defensive play, speed on the bases and good pitching over anything else every single time.

Not surprising at all, or concering
Jones is the only real power hitter on the roster, it is what it is.

It was always the consensus thru out recruitment. No real proven power hitters. Def a shift much more west coast small ball to be deployed. Not sure how I feel bout dat

I have to disagree - if you ever get close you will see they are pretty big from top to bottom. From the stands I see what you see - but I took my boy down for autographs and they were HUGE!

Wait til Tuesday night. Winds predicted at 20-25mph from the southwest. That's the best direction for multiple homers.

Scoring runs, pitching, and playing bigtime D is the best baseball. Relying on homers is not the best O all the time.
