Want to learn why JJ is a great coach and his players are focused, listen to this press conference:

LSU Post-Game Press Conference

This is impressive. JJ can coach, win or lose.

Bunting Tre was still stupid though.

Stupid to think that was stupid. Every player should be able to bunt. Tre can normally lay it down. Dumb to think he shouldn't have bunted in that situation.

No. You never bunt your hottest hitter if he’s a lefty and you have 1st and 2nd with no outs. It’s just dumb.

Watched it. If you can’t watch that postgame and come away thinking we have one of the best coaches in baseball I don’t know what to tell, you.

I watched it and came away with a couple things. The media is awful at asking questions to the players and Jay is awesome.

Leah Van is the worst. Those questions are not good.

An extra run in that situation would have been huge. Bunting wasn’t the wrong call and neither was letting him swing. Jay had a big value on that 4th run.

With the way Tre has been hitting, I'd have to agree.

It's one of the few coaching moves from JJ this year I've had a problem with. I understand why he did it, don't get me wrong. It could have been a number of other batters, hell, even Thompson's non bunting arse and I would probably support it.

That said, how the hell do you take the bat out of Tre's hands? The dude has been on a tear lately.

Anyways, thanks for posting OP.

Tre has zero sac bunts in his LSU career. 0 SH according to LSUSports.

I love Jay. He’s great. Great program leader for us and will take us to many CWS’s.

That said, I disagreed with bunting Tre there.

There's a 23% chance of scoring a run with 1st and 2nd and 0 outs, and a 27% chance of scoring a run with 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. However, you also have to factor in the odds of the batter successfully getting the bunt down, which is pretty low for this LSU team.

If it had worked and loaded the bases that stat of zero's posted above would be used to show we have the best coach in the world because it caught them completely off guard.

I wouldn't bunt tre either, but if it had worked I'd call it a genius move.

Let's quit griping about one call though, and get onto how elite this bullpen has been.

Coleman didn't have it. Money was gonna get rocked. We get to herring in the 2nd and look what happened.

Beloso looks like a construction supervisor and Cooper looks like he'd be his general foreman. Herring up there looking like he's an electrician's apprentice.

It’s not stupid if the players know how to execute it and nothing in this series or all year shows that they know how. There are so many parts that they have executed in incorrectly that it is obvious it isn’t practices much.
