I was watching it on what I'm pretty sure was a 27" tv lmao I know HD was a thing about as much as I understood string theory is a thing. It was so far out of my price range I couldn't even comprehend it lol

Oklahoma fans were so confident before that game. A few I met at café du monde were so arrogant, I tried to tell them LSU defense was better than Kansas State

40 year season ticket holder. Graduated from LSU. Living in OKC at the time. I got my tickets for the game from a broker for $750 each. I hate those car flags for the noise. But on the return trip to OKC, I stopped in Gainesville, TX just south of the border and put my LSU flags out. The last 130 miles into OKC I drove the speed limit for the first time in my life. Returning OU fans on the same route. I bet I might of set a record for the number of middle fingers and horn honks I got from the OU fans on that stretch. They were still waving their weathered championship flags from 2000 before the game. Didn't see one after the 2003 game.

I remember the players talking about how they knew it was over after they saw Oklahoma walking into the pregame dinner. Said they looked like a high school team walking in compared to the Tigers

I watched it at my friend's deer camp in Wheelock, TX with 2 OU fans.
When we walked in right before kickoff with our LSU gear on, they got all pissy. Things only went downhill from there.

If you were a fan in the 90s you never thought that could ever happen and the level of success Dinardo had for 3 years was about the best you could hope for. We always lost the big game.
Saban turned that around in his 2nd year vs. Tennessee in the SECCG and in 2003 everyone picked us to lose to defending champion UGA in both games. . It wasn’t even a consideration that Saban could do that in 4 years. We would have been happy with another Shreveport Bowl.
Even though I thought we would win because that was one of the best defenses ever, it was unreal to see it actually happen when the clock ticked down to zero in the Dome.

All I heard about was how LSU had no one that could cover Mark Clayton.
That first deep ball OU threw, when we had two DBs running stride for stride with Clayton, I knew we were going to win.

Story time…my family has been season ticket holders since the 40’s. Same lower southwestern endzone seats my grandfather had. As a child in the 80’s the magic grabbed me…only to begin that ugly run in the 90’s where it felt impossible to see another flag flying next to 1958.
We put ticket requests in for the BCS championship game after traveling to the SEC championship but were denied as we weren’t high in the ranking pecking order. Disappointed but would still get to watch LSU play for a national championship on tv…never thought that would happen.
Until one day in the middle of the work week my mom called me unexpectedly…”you’ll never believe the phone call I just got from the LSU ticket office. They put 300 tickets into a lottery for season ticket holders who weren’t selected the 1st time and we were pulled for 2 tickets!”
I thought it was a scam. It wasn’t. Have those championship tickets framed with the 7 other home games, Ole Miss road game (Eli fell down and we laughed) and SEC championship ticket for 2003.
Funny thing is the 2 tickets we got weren’t even on the same row. They literally might have been the last 2 tickets distributed by LSU. Didn’t matter at all while watching something I never thought I’d see in my life. Every LSU fan in the building that night was family.

Not going to lie I was pretty damn nervous about that game. OU was putting up video game numbers on offense that year (I was only 13). Glad I underestimated our D.

Jack Hunt and Corey Webster were all over that dude. Also, the coolest thing in the world at the time for me and my friends was wearing that solo eye black strip that Michael Clayton and others wore.
