It’s bad enough to fire football coach Brian Kelly with $53 million on the table. Bad enough to then try to torpedo a fellow conference member’s College Football Playoff run by backing up a truckload of cash and telling Lane Kiffin to hop in, leave Ole Miss high and dry and save LSU.
Bad enough to obliterate the spirit of the private NIL rule (and College Sports Commission clearinghouse), and spend nearly double of the revenue share budget (about $17 million) on private NIL deals - and have a roster worth nearly $50 million for Kiffin’s first season.
Bad enough to rehire a basketball coach who, the last time he was around, left the program in shambles and on NCAA probation (yes, kids, this used to be a thing). And in the shock of all shocks, Will Wade is at it again, desperately trying to add ineligible transfers to a roster that currently sits at four players.
The pearl clutching is reaching record levels.
I’m all for real rules returning to college football, but the selective outrage aimed at LSU is pure hypocrisy. Trinidad Chambliss found a friendly Oxford judge to grant a TRO for a sixth year of eligibility over a bout with tonsillitis. Texas brought in a guy straight out of NFL mini-camps, hiding behind arbitrary distinctions like "he didn't sign an active roster contract." Alabama basketball rolled out a multi-year pro for multiple games last season and took a fraction of this backlash, while UCLA continues to live in the legal loopholes with zero national think-pieces written about the integrity of the sport.
I agree these guys shouldn't be playing but close the loopholes or shut your mouth.
Geaux Tigers.

Sheesh, I'm not thrilled with LSU trying to bring in NFL players or the governor getting involved but the click bait hot takes from the media are ridiculous and absurd.

Can they even kick out a founding member of the SEC? I was under the impression founding members cannot be forced out.

We would win a natty every other year if we were in the big 12

Fine piece of modern journalism. Very little factual info mixed with edgy takes.
So perfect content for the Rant?
