It’s LSU, UGA, and Ohio State in a class by themselves.

Cases can be made for Michigan, Texas, Bama.
Bama, Michigan and especially Texas are way ahead of us in terms of facilities, game experience, alumni support and booster support.
Are you high right now?

Ole Miss records this century:
2000’s 63-58
2010’s 60-64
Kiffin as HC 57-20
Records don’t lie

Michigan and Texas you can make that argument for but not sure about Bama. Money wise right now LSU has deeper pocket boosters than them. They do have strong alumni support and the other things you mentioned.
I personally think Bama is not convinced on supporting their HC similar to LSU with BK. You see LSU dumping money because there was lots of big money boosters not backing BK.
I think Bama would be fine if they collectively get a HC their boosters support similar to LSU did with Lane. Texas Tech is a power player now as well with their money support they just need to be in a better power conference. Right now it's easy automatic bids for them to hit playoffs though.
This board isn't going to want to hear it but Big 10 has a lot of power players now that weren't in the past. Even Indiana has billionaires behind them now.

In the era of NIL some big money schools may join the list. Michigan and Oregon come to mind. Texas A&M has more money than several on that list but somehow is forever mediocre. Not arguing the list, but with no salary cap it’s going to be hard to out spend the top Big Ten schools.

Bama is only ranked as high as they are because they’re fresh off the Saban era but if there’s any truth to their financial state I think they’ll fall behind in the pack if LSU finally can turn the tide in that series under Kiffin. Id put Michigan and Oregon ahead of them.
Texas A&M Oklahoma and Texas Tech have to compete in a very tough recruiting grounds but outside of the SEC/B10 think Texas Tech is poised better than anyone.

USC is a medium fish in a big pond. I just assume you're a boomer that still envisions the OJ Simpson to USC era.
During the Pete Carrol days USC was the football team in LA. Huge crowds, got whoever they wanted in recruiting, celebrities on the sidelines, etc. if they could get to be a national power again they’d be a huge draw again, even with the Rams and Chargers in town.
A blue blood private school in that area is absolutely a top job.

Top five according to who? USC should probably be there.

The top 3 is LSU, Ohio State, and Georgia, because you’re the only show in town in a talent loaded state. After that, I’d say Texas and Oregon for the blank checks.

Michigan has to be in there .
