Let’s just say in no order here’s the top 5 including LSU. Who are the other 4?

Ohio State
Georgia
Texas
Bama

Is this the consensus? The only one here I maybe put on the bubble is Texas. They’re the only one here that hasn’t shown to truly put it all together and rattle off multiple titles in the modern era.

People always rank them purely based on what they could or should be opposed to reality. They share a state with several other major programs. Not to mention they border powerhouses to the north and east.

Post Saban bama is to be determined for me. Sure they’re relevant but is it really a top 5 job?

At the end of the day in my eyes when I think of all variables the two programs that I see as parallel to LSU are Ohio State and Georgia.

USC
Georgia
Alabama
Texas

I say USC because of what they can be, and their recruiting grounds. Cali is one of the best states for recruiting

As long as Phil old arse Knight is still alive and writing checks Oregon is up there. I know it’s 4000 miles up in nowhere but it’s nice.

Maybe Michigan over Bama without Saban.

Ole Puss will be here shortly to tell you they have more cfp wins than LSU and should be in the top 5.

Not top 5 anymore, not even top 10.

Oregon
Bama
Georgia
Ohio State
Texas A&M
Texas
LSU
Michigan
Miami
Penn State
Notre Dame

USC just doesn't have the alumni support anymore and their student body is increasingly indifferent to athletics, which is a distinctly American phenomena to begin with.

Fewer American students = fewer alumni that will donate back to athletics.

I would say you need to be a big successful program with no competition in state. Prior NC, program history, and of course lots of $. LSU stands out for all of those reasons. Others I would put in the top 5

Ohio State
Georgia
Michigan
Oregon
Oklahoma

Bama is clearly on the path to join Nebraska in ignominy

Wishful thinking.

Everyone said the same about Oklahoma and they’re still relevant

Hell no, you get the right coach at USC its top 5 everyday of the week.
Top jobs aren't based on recent success.

Its all about resources, facilities, recruiting grounds, etc.

I would take USC over A&M strictly because A&M has to fight Texas for recruits. USC only has UCLA & Cal to worry about. Like LSU, USC is the big dog in talent rich states

I never based my rating of USC on recent success. Im basing it on the broader context where USC is largely not much of an American-ized university anymore.

The old country club USC alumni loved football, the modern country club USC students arent much into sports at all and the remaining student body is increasingly academic focused and international.

You may a few more decades of USC as a brand, but once the big money donors die off, all youre left with is either internationals or trust fund kids.

Lincoln Riley is a decent coach and hes kind of floating in mediocrity despite heavy NIL investment.

Big recruits are more likely to end up Oregon than USC.

USC is top-15, at best.

No student body fan base, weak alumni support, no recent success outside of a single 11-win season. USC is like the 25th most interesting entertainment show in its own city.

Even youtubers mog USC athletes in Los Angeles.

I would argue Florida’s a better job than Georgia.

People always say this but absolutely nobody gives a frick about USC in LA

Lakers
Dodgers
Rams
Hollywood
Youtubers
Musicians

USC is a medium fish in a big pond. I just assume you're a boomer that still envisions the OJ Simpson to USC era.

Los Angeles isnt the allure you think it is. Saban and Kirby Smart regularly pull California kids to their programs.

Why not Texas Tech?

They have next level NIL commitment, and it got them to another echelon last year.

They'll continue to trend upward

It’s LSU, UGA, and Ohio State in a class by themselves.

Someone brought up Oregon…..and with all things being considered in the current landscape, that very well could be a top 5 gig.

Cases can be made for Michigan, Texas, Bama.

I may get laughed out of here, but A&M, if they would ever break through, could be considered very close to a top 5 job.

why do you people still think this is a thing in NIL era? the only thing TAMU is fighting for anymore is who has a bigger check than them and I hate to tell you, TAMU is easily top 5 there if they want someone bad enough.

Wrong. Try Arizona State, Arizona, Oregon and Washington. For the sake of argument I’ll exclude Stanford. But the other 4 are definitely deep into California recruiting

Bama isn’t top 5 with NIL now. They may or may not be top ten. Too much other money out there now.

USC is a private school, it's situated in a major urban area, it's academically prestigious and appeals to an international student base...

In other words, it's nothing like LSU
