What’s really hilarious about this news is how butthurt the USL contingent is that their alumnus governor is not doing the same for them at the mansion.

Damn Chicken going to have to find someone else to moderate the board in early August if he's going to be tied up with all that.

I was expecting a PE play but I don’t know if PE makes sense for a major player like LSU.
Hopefully it’s something else. The wording of the email suggests that it’s not an ask for money BUT if you agree to this plan we’re gonna ask for money to stand it up.
That or a backstop to a failed PE venture.
The only way PE makes sense is get a massive cash infusion to buy every single player we want and win every natty a row until the cash is burned (5-7 years), until other teams do it, or they pass laws to stop it.

I sure AF hope there's a multi-billion dollar company out there we don't know about named "Tiger Stadium".
Gonna suck if we have to see/hear something like "Pepsi Field at Tiger Stadium". I get that this is a money game and these are professional athletes, but damn, that would take just a little more of the magic away.

Passing around a collection plate.

All of this because some random athlete got upset his likeness was being used in a video game over a decade ago.
What a domino effect.

Would love to be a fly in the wall in that meeting. The fact that people are releasing that letter doesn't look great to the outside. I have said i think everyone is the same position but only hearing about LSU having those budget issues.

I don’t read this as “issues”. It’s more about creative ways to build and sustain NIL.

you know how unsustainable the budget of the athletic department looks and how hard TAF has worked with our donors to assist
Idk how you can possibly take this statement as other than an issue. They're stating the budget is unsustainable.

Even spread out over the terms of their contracts, it’s additional expenses every season until the contracts expire. Woody was a complete disaster as AD, outside of maybe CJJ, who was neither his 1st nor 2nd choice. The entirety of the AD budget as a whole should still be in the black, but that’s excluding NIL and facility upgrades. That’s where the long term problems reside with the current system. I would guess that’s part of what they’re going to address.

Inversely to me it reads like they’re trying to reassure these donors, that have carried a massive load the last few years, that they are working to not make that the norm. I see this more as something that we were never supposed to know about but sleazy media will sleazy media.
The current budget isn’t sustainable for anyone, they’re agreeing that they lean too much on donors, and they’re working on solutions. As they’ve been the last few years in many spaces, they’re trying to get ahead and pioneer. One day schools like A&M, Texas, Oregon, are gonna face the same issues.

So when will there be large cuts in the Ath Dept?
Do we need all these football analysts, M & WBB coaches and associates, and all the other bureaucrats?

People just don’t care about minor league college football like that

Buyouts are cheaper than bad football
