LSU has to show Les Miles the money: James Varney

Where am I wrong here?
how many lotteries have you won?
sooo, how do you know the future?
the only thing wrong here is your choice of facts.
if you chose facts that show we will win the n.c for the next ten years, you would be just as wrong as you are now.
you are a fear based individual. you think you know the future and your intellect actually tells you that you are soooo smart that you can predict the future.
it is fun to watch sooo many negatigahs base their opinions on pure conjecture because of their intellect. many are trapped by their supposed genius.
you can complain as much as you want about the past, but to believe you can predict the future of lsu/les miles football is insane.
dude, u is crazy.
-------------------------
Dude! You "is" educated beyond your intelligence!
We lose on average 2-3 games per year! And have lost the big games in last couple years. Believe what you want but numbers don't lie.

I would venture to say that the Miles era to date compares favorably to that for Phil Fulmer at Tennessee from 1994 to 2005. I do not see LSU faltering like Tennessee under Fulmer the final years of his tenure. Very successful to date but not elite. and will remain very successful as long as Miles is the coach. Elite level can be reached given his recruiting prowess. BCS titles are there to be had in the near future. The playoff system adds much intrigue to the picture.

What do you call a "big game"? It wasn't a big game when we beat bama at BDS last year. It wasn't a big game in 2010 when bama was still in the hunt for the NCG and got whipped in Tiger Stadium? It wasn't a big game when we whipped Oregon in Dallas last year? It wasn't a big game when we beat number 3 Ark to win the West last year? It wasn't a big game when we beat GA for the SEC championship last year? It wasn't a big game when we beat West Virginia on the road last year. It wasn't a big game when we whipped Urban Meyer and Florida on the road in 2010?"
Those are just big games since 2010....you want a list starting from 2005?
You're just a regular ole negatiger with the same old negative outlook on LSU and life. You like to believe that you are just a "realist" and that the rest of us are just too blinded by love for our school to see the truth.
It is you who are blind my friend, and it is your negativity and jealousy for Saban and Alabama that drives your point of view.

It all started with Oregon last year in Dallas...biggest game of our year. We lose that, we prob lose 2 more during the season.

Most know this. Some are just living in another world and will never enjoy football under Les.

I think this describes it pretty well. Until we start to find ways to win the ones that we aren't supposed to win instead of losing those we shouldn't, we are not elite.
The other thing that causes significant concern with some fans is the 'off the field' issues we have every year. I like a little bit of cockiness in our coach but I'm afraid he is allowing his attitude to be adopted by the players to the point that they think no one will do anything to them if they do crap like violate curfew, get into brawls or smoke weed. We don't need or want the bad boy reputation schools like Miami once had but we are sure seem to be embracing it on the team. I believe this is caused by Les being a big 'Buddy' to them and not being their coach. You can't be both to kids their age.

Since we were in a six season bowl drought...it was considered a huge success when DiNardo got us to the Indy Bowl. He also beat #5 Auburn in the second game of the season, his first home game. That's what started LSU on the way back. He let his ego get in the way, but recruited well, and is really what got the program moving in the right direction again.

Let's look at the last few years and a direct comparison to Alabama.

I'm assuming that you too are prepubescent and don't remember when things were really bad. Now before you take your jammies off and read Peanuts in the Sunday paper, ask a real adult to tell you how bad things were before DiNardo.
And while you are still giggling at how clever you are, you might look up and see who LSU beat in the Indy bowl.
Sorry Shane you aren't ready to be a master just yet.
Please if you are going to be a flamer, at least have some heat to your posts.

When Nick left, LSU was like 4th in the SEC in wins during his time here and maybe #8 in the nation in wins.
Saban took an 8 loss LSU program and BUILT it to what it is today. Of course his record would not be as good at first.
You wanna throw 2004, a 4 loss team a year after a NC, out at Saban to say LSU was simply good those years, ok...
Miles had a 5 loss season in 2008 a year removed from his NC. Therefore, according to your own logic, LSU isn't elite now.
You make it too easy.

How do you see our Tigers faring in the playoff format, or the conference in general? Does the dominanace continue?? In the NFL, often times it is the team that is hot at seasons end that carries them to the ring. Do you see the same in this playoff system? What is the time interval between last games played and start of the playoff!??

you don't recall the fact our program was completely in the ditch when Saban arrived and had been for decades. Many here forget what he did to bring us out of the dark ages.
Wrong coach...that would have been when GD arrived and it hadn't been "decades".
GD took over a program that had gone 25-39 in the last 6 yrs with no bowl games and no NR'ing.
NS took over a program that had gone 32-24 the 5 yrs before his arrival with 3 bowl wins and 3 NR'ed teams.
You really know very little bout LSU football and I'm beginning to wonder if are even an LSU fan.

What many are saying here is that if you are satisfied with top 10 finishes most seasons and 2-3 loses each and every season
It's not many, but it is a few nuts.
What has been explained to you over and over, is that there is NO team in SEC/BCS football which hasn't averaged over 2 L's a season since 05.
So, saying you can't be happy with a 2 L a season HC is saying you can't be happy with anyone.
Try to enjoy the eliteness that is LSU football and stop crying like a spoiled 2 yr old.

First if we don't figure out how not to average 2-3 loses per year, we won't benefit from a 4 team playoff that is coming beginning in 2014. It'll be unbeaten and one loss teams who make it in.
That said I do think a playoff increases the chances of the SEC getting one or even two teams into the bug game. The wild card will be the voters who decide who gets in and who doesn't. We all know there is an increasing level of disgust around the country with the SEC winning championships. I expect this could lead to bias voting which limit the number of teams we get in. In the event more than one gets in watch for the first round matchups to ensure they play each other to eliminate one.
Personally I am not in favor of 8-16 team systems. Adding one game to the season is one thing but adding 2 or 3 is brutle for teams in the SEC since we routinely beat the hell out if each other every week and are lucky to get through our season without multiple key injuries. Another 2-3 games will decrease our chances IMO.
The next issue I see is we still intend to have the SECCG while other teams are in leagues that don't have them or as we see with ND there are teams who are independent and don't belong to a conference. Bottom line this decreases our chances of winning a playoff also as we have the extra game before the playoff.
Lastly, at the moment we have 4-5 weeks to heel up a bit after the SECCG but adding a playoff will reduce this period by 1,2 or 3 weeks depending on what the final version of the playoff ends up looking like be cause its my understanding they do not want to extend the games further into January.
Bottom line, the playoff is a 'double edged sword' that increases the possibility of one or more SEC teams to make the big game but this comes at a price and I'm not sure whether its a net gainer net lose. I do not think it will help 2-3 loss teams get in however.
