And it’s glorious to see playing out in real time. There’s something fitting about us finally leaning into the role we’ve been accused of playing for years. The media has never exactly handed us the benefit of the doubt, and we fans have spent plenty of time feeling like every success came with a national asterisk attached. Now we’ve got Wade and Kiffin, two guys who seem perfectly comfortable making the rest of the country uncomfortable and it feels like LSU has finally stopped trying to win everyone over. We want to win big, talk our shite, and be the program everybody loves to hate.

If we’re going to be the villain, we might as well be a really damn good one.

Lights in the stadium go black, purple smoke begins to billow out from the locker room and Voodoo Child begins to play.

Call me crazy but I actually like this. If guys aren’t drafted and they only played a few pre season games but are likely getting cut, then why can’t they come back for that final year of eligibility?

It gives all teams a chance to add a few pieces after fall camp to finalize their rosters for the season.

5 for 5 let’s do it. It’s not unreasonable. These media outlets are trying to paint this as if it’s first round picks coming back to college. It’s only been UDFA’s in this scenario that I’ve seen.

Except that time they only dropped LSU from #1 to #5 despite losing, at home, to an unranked Arkansas team, then quickly vaulted LSU back to #2 after the next week.

LSU has been given a lot of credit nationally. It's just LSU fans seem to have some weird fetish of constantly wanting to be a "victim". Maybe it's a part of the Cajun ancestry.

But I do agree this is a time where the disingenuous media is feigning outrage at LSU just looking out for its own self interests.

"LSU should not have fired BK so soon into his contract and incurred such a huge buyout"....even though it's not really the fans' or the states' money funding the buyout.

"LSU should not have hired Ole Miss's HC on the eve of the CFP"...even though said HC could have immediately rejected LSU's attempts and LSU was willing to allow said HC to coach in the CFP. So LSU was not supposed to try to improve their situation to allow a direct competitor to improve theirs's?

"LSU should not have rehired a HC it previously fired"...for doing something (paying players) that is "legal" and necessary now.

As Charlie Hannigriff said, LSU should not be in the business of making its competitors happy.

Some purple and gold nWo shirts would probably sell pretty well right now.
