That's exactly what he's telling us. He's giving every LSU fan a big fat middle finger and laughing while he does it. Anyone who buys tickets or attends a single game next year is doing this program a disservice. It's the only form of leverage the fans have.

Regardless of what you think about Mcmahon there is no way LSU can compete in the SEC with a $1.5 mil budget . Vandy is at $5 mil. We beat them with Reed. Ark is at $10 mil and we beat them . Ky. Auburn, AL, FL $10- 20 mil. We competed with AL and Auburn and Ole Miss and TAM.
These numbers are absolutely outrageous. You have no idea what you’re talking about. At all.

I don't know how I missed that post. Hilarious.
I know nobody really knows, but this is from an on3 article about collectives.
LINK
And per the Goodman tweet I posted earlier in the thread, Arkansas is considered to have at least a top 3 basketball NIL budget, if not #1.
So the idea that half the league is spending $10-20M on a basketball roster is insane.

Multiple sources have told On3 Calipari is working with an “open checkbook” and will have “at least” $5 million annually in NIL funds to disperse. That number could grow to $8 million, sources have told On3.

Wade told McNeese boosters he needed $3 million to compete. I don't know about this year but he got it last year. If McNeese has $3 million for NIL, I bet the $5 million and $10 million numbers aren't far off.

There is absolutely zero chance McNeese is paying $3M for their basketball roster.

10 year contracts on coaches may be a thing of the past. They should be anyway. 5 year max, not 10.

I would be absolutely shocked if he got that.

I talked to multiple boosters in the room the night he pitched it. He raised about half of it in commitments that night. I don't know for sure he got all the way there after that but I got the impression he did.

Works for me. The “fire da corch!”crowd and the Wade frick boys would just be bitching and moaning about the new coach in no time at all.
MBB will eventually be fixed. I personally don’t care how long Woodward takes to do it.

So we drag arse on purchasing players in hopes that we can go cheap & win with lesser talent, but it doesn’t work and we become SEC bottom feeders?
Should we feel sorry for McMahon who seemed complacent about it and he now gets another year after alienating a lot the fan base? Chicken shite move by Woody and it’s no guarantee that we’ll be worth a flip next season.

This would be welcome news if we saw the team having good fundamentals but lacking the skill to compete.
Instead I see a motionless offense that sometimes haphazardly attempts a ball screen before relying on someone to make an athletic play to get to the hoop or jack up a contested 3pt shot. I see guys who can jump out of the gym being outrebounded because they aren’t taught the proper way to box out. I see off-ball defenders who over-help, leaving their man wide open for an easy shot attempt.
If we were running good sets that got open shots and just missed them because we weren’t talented enough, I could get behind the ‘we just need better players’ argument. But it simply isn’t true. Our guys are not put in positions to succeed. And we play reckless with little regard for taking care of the ball. That’s on coaching. McMahon doesn’t know what to do to fix it at this level. He has said it so himself on the postgame shows.

Was so stupid to commit 7 years to an unproven coach at this level before even seeing what punishment LSU was going to receive.
Long term coaching contracts need to be a thing of the past, because it is more about paying players now anyways.
