Two things can be true at the same time. The B1G would kill to have LSU and they will never get the chance.
I just had a 15 minute discussion with Gemini about this. So little upside with a ton of downside. The nightmare scenario is that we roster these guys tomorrow, play them next weekend (gemini says they can't play this weekend), and then the federal case goes against us and we incur huge penalties from the SEC. If it were me, i wouldn't play those guys until the federal case is decided. We should get a positive result in state court today.
So basically an endowment? If that's the case, what is the valuation for?
What's he getting at with #4 when he asks how BRPD saw the accident or got there immediately? Does he think there's some sort of conspiracy? Isn't it a good thing that they got there quick? Maybe I'm missing something.
Barbe is not overrated. They're one of the best programs in the country consistently. However, they're coach gets every bit of talent out of them. A lot of times they don't get much better because cecchini is so good at getting the most from them. That's my theory anyway.
I don't really keep up with recruiting any more but could we have landed Haven if we would have tried for him or did we take Houston because of the two, he had the most interest in LSU?
It's a very very bad situation. I wouldn't want this kid anywhere near LSU.
I would kill to know who's funding all of this. I mean, I know we have two billionaires and other heavy hitters but I'd love to see how it's split up amongst them.

I don't know man. Can a transfer qb from Arizona state really help us?
Should have wasted a couple more seconds before scoring.

I hate all of this so very much. Take me back to 2018.

Let's say 2019 instead
I agree totally. But New Orleans seems to be a place where his skills are less easily replaced. The NOLA recruiting landscape has always been built on relationships.
It helps to have NOLA connections on the staff. It's not as crucial as it used to be but it's still important. Hopefully we still have someone tied in or that can get tied in.
Being an established coordinator at a big time program can get you a head coaching gig at a big time program. Look at Kirby Smart, Venables, Lanning, and even Jimbo. It's not now or never for Baker and, if he keeps up his success, he'll have better offers down the road.
If he was planning on coaching, he would have negotiated a lump sum. He'll only coach if he changes his mind and it won't be next year. If he coaches next year, then we didn't really offer him 30 million.
It's a crapshoot when you go after a small school coach. Just look at Tom Herman and sun belt billy.
Of course he knew. Just hasn't figured out how to handle the media yet.

So they know for sure who the coaching hire is going to be but they still haven't determined the final member of the coach search committee?

Yeah, I wouldn't believe the saban stuff but I think the president and AD stuff is true. I'm curious to see if the timing lines up. I'll believe Saban when I hear him say it. Probably just a trustee running his mouth to distract or because they think they can make a good offer.
I got this saturday night from someone I would believe but wouldn't bet my life on. The word is that Rousse will be announced tomorrow (tuesday), Schroyer will follow him but not as AD. He'll be below that level as either an assitant to the AD or assitant to the president. That won't be announced tomorrow but will come in the next week or two. Also, he spoke to a trustee and the trustee said they're going to shock the whole world with the coaching hire. That to me only says one thing. I'm not necessarily standing behind this but that's what I heard. We'll know tomorrow if the first part is true.
