Move the student section to the side of the court and problem will be solved. Absolutely ridiculous how its currently setup. Seriously one of the stupidest things ive ever seen.

It’s time to get over this people. The student section ain’t moving back to where it used to be so we all need to get over it. And the old people that are in the prime seats show up and are louder than the students anyway.

I have seen many other student sections in college basketball that are on the baseline and are still loud AF. I have only seen one student section in college basketball that sits down the whole time during game. Maybe we should rename the student section “The Safe Spacers” because that’s what it looks like.

my guess for the Memphis game attendance is it being a Friday night and tons of high school football being played.

The Memphis game was on Tuesday. What lame excuse is the Rant going to come up with for LSU fans to convince themselves that they aren’t just bad fans?

I’m not saying every student needs to go to the games. I’m saying that for a school of 30,000 students (or whatever the actual number is now) the fact that we can’t even get 500 students to routinely attend a basketball game is a joke.

Well outside a small handful of seasons we’ve basically been trash for the last 25 years

The whole PMAC feels vacant, spacious.

That’s because it is vacant. Even for the biggest crowd of the year, the SELU game, the place was still only 60% full.

It’s the same building it was in the 80s. The only difference between now and then is the people in the building... or the lack there of.

but LSU's inconsistency over the last 20+ years has led to this.

Once again, lame excuse. What happened the last 20 years means nothing for this year’s team. By your logic, let’s punish Will Wade for the sins of Brady, Trent and Johnny. #Weak

Football is always going to be the main attention getter in this town. That's particularly true in November. Once December rolls around, most of the students have left for a month. But the reality is that if/when LSU becomes a consistent winner, the crowds will show back up en masse. No one gave a shite about LSU basketball in the mid 70's. Likewise, very few people even knew LSU had a baseball program in the early 80's. Once those two starting winning on a national level, the crowds started to show.

So basically you are saying that the LSU fanbase is a non-loyal bandwagon for winners only fanbase? Amirite?

Students now would rather play with their phones and flesh lights than bother to pay attention to anything other than instagram.

I think it’ll pick up for SEC play. I think the P Mac itself is not ideal but could be electric. Look at gymnastics, they have a great atmosphere.

I loved going to basketball games while in college. Have a few beers around Chimes then walk over. I have to be honest though, the upper section of the student section is not conducive for a student section. This is an exaggeration but it would be similar if we put part of the football student section in the upper decks. The atmosphere would not be the same.

Honestly, there aren't many excuses for students to go to the games but be lame. I guess that's my biggest problem. If you are going to make the effort to go, then make an effort to be loud

LSU basketball culture began declining partially as the program waned but also partially because baseball started reeling off NCs almost every other year and a culture of support rose around it. I can’t think of another school where basketball isn’t the 1st or 2nd most popular sport. You can still fill the PMAC but you need a consistent winner to get that culture back. People only have so much time/interest to devote to LSU athletics and you’re talking about what is now the de facto 3rd most popular sport. It’s going to be fair weather.

LSU sells out the arena for gymnastics.

If you produce a winner at LSU, people show up.

I was at LSU during Shaq and Chris Jackson days. Our seats for students were across from their benches. We’d throw papers into the court and Dalenwould grab the mic and say “please no throwing things on the court”.

We had upper and lower level seats —- and it was always packed. And loud. Was a great time for basketball.

I’ve said this before. The students aren’t getting the sideline seats back. Maybe they should, but those seats are sold to season ticket holders. LSU isn’t giving that money up.

Instead, move the press. I don’t care where. Just get them away from where they are. Give the students the bottom and middle sections on both baselines. Let the student sections challenge each other to be loudest. They can keep the call and response cheers going back and forth. There would be a hostile student section on both ends of the court to intimidate the opposing team.

Would be awesome. Can anyone think of a more perplexing decision than the press seating in the PMAC?

The places that have packed houses and active, loud student sections have been consistent winners for the most part. When LSU has even two straight years of winning and NCAA tournament runs, our fans will return. Hell, I expect we will have sellouts in Jan-Feb-Mar of this season.

Does anyone else hate the “pull out your iPhone and light em up” nonsense before the starting lineup is introduced?

It is so cringeworthy and gimmicky.

On that note, the entire introduction sequence needs to be revamped. It is too long and the video they play before he player introductions for LSU bring any energy in the building to a screeching halt. It has never worked and they keep doing the same thing every year just changing the video content each year without making it any more exciting.

Yeah, that video sucks big arse.

Also, for the proven winner theory people, what say you of Auburn's ability to bring it every game last season (the first year they were good in 15 years)...

I’d really love to share my thoughts on the gameday procedure with the people who do ours. It’s as if they’ve never seen how good teams go about handling the whole thing.

Bruce Pearl. Like him or not, the man knows how to sell his program and energize a crowd.
