Give it some time. Last year it did seem like the attendance picked up after football season. Compared to 2017, b-ball already gained 2k+ average attendance in 2018. 7k avg to 9k. We didn’t even make the tourney last year. I would expect that to increase if we keep winning this year.

Also the pmac arena design sucks in general. Yeah I know it was loud back in the day etc etc the pMac design doesn’t help the fans feels close to the game imo

Move the student section to the side of the court and problem will be solved. Absolutely ridiculous how its currently setup. Seriously one of the stupidest things ive ever seen.

So few student sections are at the side of the court. Also, Students stopped going and got lazy so LSU punished them...which they should have. So students can't chant because they're behind a goal? LSU football students shouldn't chant because they're in an end zone? I mean c'mon

I’m a student and I go to the basketball games, but why do people feel that students NEED to go to the games? Why do you care what 18-22 year olds do with their time? If you want it to be rowdy, get all of your buddies that enjoy basketball and get it done. However, the student section will fill out if we continue to win into SEC play.

A) Then stand up and cheer

B) Why do I care? Because for 14 years of my life, I have poured my time, energy, money, emotions into something I love. I think about some of the best moments I had as a student and they center around that arena and that team. As a Freshman, I was a manager for an NCAA tournament team and if I see those guys around, I still talk to them. Students drive excitement, so without the students, the atmosphere is not where it needs to be to create a homecourt advantage which is MASSIVE for college basketball.

C) I have lots of friends who go to the games. And they pay lots of money to go to the games. I've made an arse out of myself MANY times during games, but again, it does not have the same effect as the students. You're a young kid so you don't understand that. One day when you're older, you'll realize what I mean.

I've had Dane Bradshaw look into my eyes as he runs down the court flipping the students off and yelling "frick You" because collectively as a section we set up camp in his head and were having drinks. Bruce Pearl knew what Bradshaw did and he literally went over to him, pointed to Bradshaw and we cheered, and he put him back into to let us maul him more.

I've been there when Matt Walsh was dating a Playboy Playmate and we were chanting her name, people had posters of her "spread"

So I don't think students NEED to go to the games, but I think it's sad they don't want to. And if they do go to the game, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to be loud and crazy for a couple of hours. If you're going to go and sit on your arse, why not watch it on tv? What is the difference?

This. Also, I credit The Boat with this saying (paraphrased): "As soon as the student section actually shows the f*ck up for the big game, the BBall team chokes and gives them reason to stay home the rest of the year."

Was there. I was a senior in high school and drove from Central to attend every SEC home game that season. It was amazing to be part of something so special that year. Students now days have no clue what that kind of ownership feels like. They don't care to know.

I think this may be a big part of the overall problem.

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge basketball guy. I dont feel that need to go to the games that you do. For me, and I think for a lot of casual fans/students, its preferable to stay at home and drink/eat while sitting on my couch.

ETA: I do think that as the season goes on and if LSU keeps improving, a lot of casual students will go to the games and the PMAC will get rowdy. But for now, basketball isn't even on the brain. Give it a month or 2

Probably the best summary. I was definitely spoiled during my college years. National championship in football, Sugar Bowl, basketball Final Four. I actually felt like the louder I was, the louder the person next to me was, the louder the person next to them were, etc etc etc. Just made me feel like I had an impact, probably why it means so much to me

I understand that. LSU has what...25k students? Even 500 students would be impressive. If you aren't going to go and be loud, just chill at home. If I was going to sit down and casually clap sometimes, I would definitely chill on my couch drinking some beer and relaxing. If you go, be loud.

I've always felt students at games have a job, to be loud. The rest of the stadium pays the money so that in basketball you go for free and in football you go for cheap. Just my thoughts

Dedicate the entire lower section of the "end zone" to the students.
Move media out. Put them somewhere else.

Now LSU charges a lot for those setas and they are all sold out every year.

1) If they’re sold out, the people who bought them don’t show up to games, so they’re part of the problem too.
2) the people who do sit in those seats don’t make any noise and sit on their hands all game, which is how most of the PMAC is unfortunately

I do agree with what most have said, Seats need to be closer to the court. Get rid of those stupid running tables along the floor that have foldup chairs with like 30 people along the whole court in them. Move the media.

Kentucky's student section does not have seats. They only have the ability to stand where seats would be. I think students should be forced to stand during games.
wtf that is dumb as hell. That would kill any student attendance we do have now.

We have been down a long time. The space given to reporters is very rarely used. Sideline tables are always open. No idea why LSU did this with premium seats.

Amen brother preach it. The problem is the apathy for the basketball program isn’t limited to the students. The LSU fanbase as a whole does NOT support Will Wade. I have been a season ticket holder for the last five seasons. There has been no difference in attendance from the Johnny Jones era to the Will Wade era. It’s disgusting to think that our fanbase is showing the same amount of support for Will Wade as it did for Johnny Jones.

I’m going to apologize in advance because I am about to respond to a bunch of posts in a row. There are a lot of knobs saying dumb shite in this thread.

The fan apathy for this program under Wade will be the reason he bolts when a better job comes along.

This can’t be said enough. As of right now LSU has the worst basketball fanbase in the SEC to go along with the worst home court advantage. If LSU fans don’t get off their arse then Will Wade is only a couple of years from getting away from this apathetic and lazy fanbase.

This logic is stupid. So even though we are ranked #19 and have a quality matchup against a historically good Memphis team, because we used to have Johnny Jones and Trent Johnson as our coaches we should expect to suck again and therefore shouldn’t support the program yet. GTFO.

How about the logic of.... Will Wade is a great young coach and I believe he has us headed in the right direction. We are ranked #19! What are you people waiting on?! Get on board and support the program.

Once again, we are ranked #19... what are you people waiting on? I guess for some of you BANPAN’s we need to be 25-0 before you will consider coming to a game.
